Riding characteristics
The Shimano Dura Ace C50 wheels feel incredibly comfortable in your bike. Whereas other deep carbon wheels require some getting used to when it comes to stability in the wind and downhill, the Shimano Dura Ace wheels feel right from the start. You hardly notice that you are riding with 50mm wheels. They feel direct at every turn and, despite being 50mm deep, you can use them perfectly on climbs. High speed descents don't feel nervous at all and they steer very directly into corners.
Aerodynamics
The aerodynamics of the Shimano Dura Ace R9270 C50 have been considerably improved. This is partly due to the wide rim profile with an external rim width of 28mm. The aerodynamic drag is considerably lower with a rim of these dimensions. Compared to Shimano Dura Ace R9100 C40 wheels, an impressive 5.1 watts of aerodynamic drag is gained just from the deeper rim. In addition, another 1 watt is gained compared to the Shimano Dura Ace R9100 C60 tubular wheel. These gains were achieved while maintaining other properties such as stiffness, comfort and control.
Stiffness
To achieve higher stiffness, the 1:1 spoke pattern has been added to the front wheel. Also, stronger spokes of 1.5mm thickness have been used to optimise stiffness without compromising weight. The so-called Direct Engagement system has been developed and added to the rear hub, increasing power transfer efficiency by 63%.
For Dura Ace 12 speed, Shimano has developed a new body type. This body has more notches, so the cassette will not wear out the body so easily. The disadvantage is that only Shimano Dura-Ace 12 speed cassettes fit this body.

High-performance wheels for all types of riders!
Incredibly responsive, light and aerodynamic wheels, without being demanding in terms of rigidity. They're extremely versatile, whether on the flat, over bumps or on long climbs. I recommend them +++

dura ace = excellence
With no experience of tubeless technology, I mounted these wheels the old-fashioned way with an inner tube and a tubeless tyre that was tube-compatible. I had to do the assembly 3 times to get the tyre hump to disappear. You have to slam the tyre bead into the groove provided for this purpose. Once I understood that, no problem but with a compressor! The wheels are lively, very light, quiet and really very versatile. I had to buy a Dura ace cassette: compulsory extra cost but what a weight saving :) (opinion of a former mavic cosmic carbon 2005 owner who took the bike back 2 years ago)

Top wheelset
Tested so far on 2 tours with 100 and 75 km, I am thrilled with the top aerodynamics, stable in gusts of wind. Very good workmanship.

Real pro wheels!
Pair of wheels fitted to my TREK Emonda SLR to make it more versatile, especially on flat courses (37 mm wheels at the base). In fact, these wheels are very effective on all types of terrain. They're super-responsive, without being demanding. They're a real pleasure to ride. I recommend them 100%. Add to that the MANTEL service, and you've got the best!
