Elitewheels Marvel 38V Road Bike Wheels

The Elitewheels Marvel 38V road bike wheels for rim brake were designed for usability on hilly roads, but they do also perform well allround and in terms of aerodynamics on flat roads. The Elitewheels Marvel 38V carbon wheels provide an affordable option for road bikes with rim brakes, with great and durable quality. Though this is an entry-level wheelset from the Elitewheels range, it does come with specifications that you won't quickly find in this price range. The rims can handle an impressive temperature of up to 270 degrees Celsius, to guarantee your safety on long or fast descents.

This Elitewheels Marvel 38V carbon wheelset is equipped with 28 mm wide, 38 mm high rims with a low, 1533 gram weight, as well as bearings with ceramic balls for durability and a low rolling resistance. These wheels have been rigorously tested and come with highly reliable Pillar RVS spokes. The Marvel 38V wheelset has been aerodynamically optimised for tyres between 25 and 28 mm wide, and feels incredibly stable in very windy conditions thanks to the U-shaped rim.

GCN partner

Rims
The Marvel wheelset was designed at Elitewheels to meet the needs of recreational cyclists. In contrast with the aluminium rims found on most road bikes, these Marvel wheels are stronger, more rigid, a lot more aerodynamic and a lot lighter. Wheels, in fact, play the main role in terms of the aerodynamics of a bike. In contrast with saving weight elsewhere, a lighter rim will reduce the rotating weight, which results in a more agile feel and faster acceleration.

Spokes
Choosing the right spokes is a crucial part of building a wheel. Elitewheels chose Pillar PA 1423 RVS spokes. They're cold forged, to make them even stronger than regular spokes, which means they can handle higher tensile forces and a maximum rider weight of 130 kg.

Hubs
The Elitewheels Marvel wheels are equipped with hubs with a high flange, for a high lateral rigidity and enormously improved stability. Both hubs are equipped with semi-ceramic bearings with an extremely low friction coefficient, which saves you some precious power.

Semi-ceramic
The Marvel 38V's front hub has 6803 semi-ceramic bearings and the rear hub has three 6803 bearings and one 6903 bearing. These larger bearings provide more durability than standard bearings. The use of large, semi-ceramic bearings results in a more efficient bike, which saves you some precious power.

Braking surface
The Marvel 38V uses a resin mixture that can handle temperatures up to 270℃, which was designed by Elitewheels themselves. They used a Japanese Toray T800 carbon fibre for the braking surface. This wheelset's heat resistance ensures excellent brake performance, even on long or steep descents. The brake track is equipped with laser-etched grooves to drain away water, which allows for safe, consistent braking in wet conditions.

Tubeless
All Elitewheels wheelsets are tubeless ready and come with preinstalled tubeless rim tape. Every rim is equipped with their unique tubeless R-shape design, which makes fitting tyres easier. To make fitting tyres even easier, the rims come with specialised mounting edges, which even enables you to inflate your tyres using a floor pump.
