Description
The Fulcrum Wind 40C road bike wheels are a great upgrade for any road bike. The wheelset is suitable for your daily rides on all types of roads. You use the Wind 40C as a training set, during your competition or with your Granfondo; The Fulcrum Wind 40C can be used all round. If you are looking for weight improvements, improved aerodynamics and good braking performance, you have come to the right place with the Fulcrum Wind 40C. The wheels feel stable with crosswind, so you ride your bike with more control and confidence, even on a descent.
To transfer all power to the wheels, there is the extra large flange on the gear side, with aero spokes arranged according to the "2: 1 two-to-one" system. Due to this system, the spokes have a good distribution on the left and right, which drastically reduces the risk of spoke breaks or impact on the wheels. The Wind 40C stands for: technology, performance and stiffness, which will completely change the riding characteristics of your road bike. AC3 braking surface
The AC3 technology has drastically improved braking power on carbon rims. An improvement of 6% in dry conditions and even 43% in wet conditions compared to the 3DIAMANT technology that was previously used. In this way you make direct contact between the brake pad and the carbon rim during braking so that water and moisture are immediately drained and the braking force is hardly affected.
Aerodynamics
The effect of crosswind and road stability has also been taken into account in the development of the Fulcrum Wind 40C rims. The result is a wheelset that is easier to keep up to speed regardless of the conditions. You notice this especially when you increase the pace, it takes less effort to keep the wheels straight despite any headwind or crosswind.
The concept is simple and elegant: Balancing the wheel with added weight exactly opposite of the valve.
2: 1 TWO-TO-ONE SPOKE RATIO - DISC BRAKE
A system that is simple yet effective at the same time is the result of Fulcrum engineers who have analyzed the test results of daily test drives.
These tests showed that the forces on the spokes on the drive side and the non-drive side are quite different. But the forces on the front and rear wheel also differ enormously. For example, the front wheel must be able to provide a lot of stiffness when braking on the discs on the left, unlike the rear wheel which has to do on the body side or the right side of the wheel.
DRSC - DIRECTIONATED RIM-SPOKE COUPLING
Exclusive rim / spoke connection. Allows to get exactly the same tension on the rim, spokes, nipples and hub in all conditions.
MOMAG
A system in which the spoke nipples can be replaced with a magnet. This is necessary when there are no spoke holes on the outside of the rim.
ANTI-ROTATION SYSTEM
This new system takes the spokes of wheels to a higher level. Fulcrum engineers have modified the spokes and hub to create an even stiffer construction. The result is that the spokes:
Never lose their lateral stiffness, so always stay fully centered. Retain the tested position from the wind tunnel while driving, for maximum aerodynamics retention.
AC3 - ALL CONDITIONS CARBON CONTROL
For years, the problem of braking on carbon rims has been studied and technically optimized, in line with advances in research into materials and available finishing processes. AC3 is a further step in this direction and will enable surprisingly good braking performance, especially in poor conditions, when improvements become the basis for a different way of cycling. Trust and ability grow together with excellent modulation. Laboratory tests have shown that it allows a 6% improvement in braking power in dry conditions compared to before. On wet surfaces, the difference is astonishing: here there is an increase of 43%, bringing the braking distance close to that in dry conditions. In this way, the braking makes direct contact between the brake pad and carbon rim surface, improving the grip and drainage of water and moisture from the surface, giving you immediate better results.

Installing a cassette on a wheel is easy if you have the right tools. If you purchase a cassette remover with a Shimano fit, you will be able to mount either a Shimano or Sram cassette on your rear wheel. Please note! For a Campagnolo cassette you need the Campagnolo tool. If you have a Shimano 9/10-speed cassette, first slide the spacer over the body. Then you place the cassette on the body. This can only be done in one way because of the fit of the body. Finally you turn the washer straight on by hand and tighten it with the cassette tool. Cassettes aren’t easily overtightened, but if you want you can use a torque wrench for this.
- For Shimano 9/10-speed, do not forget to mount the spacer first before installing the cassette
- Make sure the rim tape is stuck well in the rim
- On both the front and rear wheel, there is a small adjustment screw on the left-hand side to adjust the side play

Assembly

- Pay attention to the direction of travel when mounting your tyres- For Shimano 9/10-speed, do not forget to mount the spacer first before installing the cassette
