Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • The Tacx Boost bike trainer is a perfect way to stay in shape when you can't train outdoors.
  • This trainer uses 10 different resistance levels so you can determine the optimal resistance yourself.
  • With a maximum power output of 1050 Watts, this trainer is the closest thing to a direct drive bike trainer among the wheel-on trainers.
  • With a flywheel of 1.6 kg, this cycle trainer provides a more realistic resistance than the Blue Matic or Blue Twist.
  • Thanks to the foldable legs you can easily put the trainer away when you’re not using it.
  • Your rear tyre can wear out quickly if you’re not using a trainer tyre.
  • For an even more realistic cycling experience, you need a direct drive trainer.

Description

Description

The Tacx Boost bike trainer is the successor of the well-known Tacx Booster, which was a great success before the direct drive bike trainers came on the scene. The big advantage of the Tacx Boost cycle trainer is that you don't need an external power supply to use it: the resistance is determined by a switch on the handlebar that operates a powerful magnetic brake. The installation is simple - just two simple clicks and you are ready to cycle.

Technology

Easy installation
Just two simple clicks and you're ready to go.

Compact and stable
This indoor trainer has a small diameter on the floor, 675 x 650 mm (26.6" x 25.6"), while still offering a stable experience.

Easy to store away
Multifunctional front wheel support serves as a handle to carry the trainer and provides a natural cycling position.

Magnetic brake
You don't need an external power supply to use this bike trainer; thanks to a powerful magnetic brake you can instantly increase or decrease the resistance.

Resistance levels
With a simple lever on your handlebar you can adjust the resistance; 10 levels, up to 1050 watts.

Realistic cycling sensation
A heavier flywheel makes for a realistic and smooth pedal stroke.

Smooth and quiet
The closed resistance unit reduces noise and makes for a smoother ride.

Compatibility

Suitable for bicycles with quick-release skewer. An additional adapter set is required for bicycles with a drive shaft.

There you are, embarrassed.

- Dries 9 November 2021

What nonsense! Nowhere does it say it won't fit a bike with a thru axle. All bikes nowadays have through-axles, but they still supply a quick-release adapter. Then again, you have to buy an adapter separately at far too high a price, which of course benefits them! Perhaps suggest to tacx that they decide which adapter/quick-release skewer should be included.
