POC Ventral Air MIPS

POC - quality and safe
Safe, fresh and lightweight helmet. No mushroom shape like other MIPS helmets. Feels very comfortable. The ventilation holes are great for tucking your goggles in when needed.

Class helmet
The helmet is excellently processed and has a really good fit. The adjustment wheel is very easy to reach and smooth. He also looks really very good and is not as bulky as eg the Octal and is also very light. If you are between two sizes, you should check whether not the smaller size fits, because inside is still a lot of space. The adjustment of the straps is a bit more complex, but not as cumbersome as thought. The MIPS is integrated and thus does not interfere with the airflow in the helmet. This was not so aware of me and is a plus point compared to other MiPs helmets with visible shell and justifies somewhat the higher Anschafungspreis.

Safe and comfortable-fitting helmet
Helmet is comfortable and feels "safer" than my previous Specialized helmet, although the latter was slightly softer lined. You don't feel the helmet when you have it on, it is easy to adjust and stays in place. In terms of ventilation, I do not yet notice that this helmet is much better than my previous one.

Exactly what I was looking for!
Good fit, you barely feel it on your head.

The wind passes freely over your head, top!
This helmet is so light and well ventilated that I sometimes doubt I have it on...just what I was looking for. Stylish, great fit for me. The large holes do make it a little difficult for your sunglasses to stay on when you put them in your helmet, but all in all very happy with this helmet.

Outstanding fall protection thanks to MIPS
I bought the POC Ventral Air MIPS because I was very satisfied with the POC Octal MIPS fall protection after a hard fall: as a result of a loose manhole cover in Schoonhoven, my handlebars were knocked out of my hands at a speed of just over 30 km/h, after which my entire weight (75 kg) landed unbraked on my head and thus my helmet. In a nanosecond, I feared the worst--I had never experienced such a direct contact with the asphalt before, but the POC (bought at Mantel just under six months before the new purchase) broke the fall with flying colours. Dented and cracked, but my head did not have a scratch, nor did I have a concussion, not even a mild one. So POC and MIPS had done their job superbly. At Mantel I was then able to buy a new one at a decent crash discount, the choice was not difficult now! By the way, the fit of the Ventral seems slightly tighter than that of the Octal, but perhaps the MIPS shell closes a little more tightly ... I returned the Octal to Mantel before the Ventral arrived, so I can't really compare anymore. By the way, the handling at Mantel also deserves kudos. I no longer had the purchase receipt for the Octal, but my purchase could be traced unerringly on the phone. Within ten days, the crash discount was in my account.

its predecessor the octal was already nice but this one is just a bit more comfortable. the material used for the padding and the straps feel nice on the skin. together with the poc aspire glasses you also look smooth
