A wonderfully convenient and beautiful navigation device with lots of features.

- Ger, 27 June, 2023

As of September 2012, I have been using the Garmin GPS 62 ST used. Both with cycling and hiking. Creating routes myself and entering existing routes. This 62ST I now use only for hiking. So time for renewal. The choice was this Edge 530 with many features. To get a good overview, I first printed the manual on both sides. It is 74 pages. But very pleasant when you are getting to know the Edge 530. I only use it for navigation. And what goes with that. My homemade routes, which I save on the computer in Base Camp, I can put into the Edge 530 that way. I use "Routiq", (formerly Route.nl) to create my own routes. Mainly via junctions. If you ride a certain route on your Edge 530 and you are not at the starting point, it navigates you nicely to the route. I don't use the training program with everything that goes with it. But I have seen that you have a very beautiful device, if that is important to you. Lots of possibilities. If you read the manual carefully, you will see what other nice things you can use. If you buy this Edge, (which is obvious after my review) I wish you a lot of fun with it.

Pros & Cons

Best value for money

- Bart, 14 September, 2022

I hesitated between the 530 and 830 but am very satisfied with my choice (530). The 100 euros cheaper for buttons instead of touchscreen makes it the most value for money in my opinion.

Pros & Cons

Endless options
Extensive data analysis
Price quality
Screen well visible
A bit confusing in the beginning
Screen is just too small for navigation

I should have purchased this much earlier

- Ard, 3 June, 2022

Deliberately chose no touchscreen, on gravel and offroaf I found a touchscreen unworkable (even in the rain).... Navigation is clear, I make my routes in Komoot and that goes super. What can be a disadvantage is that Garmin has quite a lot of settings and everything can be adjusted to your liking, but then you have to go through a lot of menus. Personally, I really like that and like to set everything to my preferences. And totally fan of how it works with the varia 515 bike radar/backlight. I can recommend that to everyone. I never want to ride without this combination again.

Pros & Cons

Good schern
Interaction with other (Garmin) sensors
Many features
No touch screen
Small
Gotta love menu screens (like me)
Re-route sometimes a bit slow

A bit of a struggle, but then you have something

- Rui, 31 May, 2022

Really the device is not very intuitive, but with a good search on the Internet you can figure it out. Once you get the logic it works just fine. If you want you can adjust it to your taste. First round on the MTB was good, hope to enjoy it for a long time to come!

Pros & Cons

Different brackets included for on bike
Easy to link to sensors
Easy to use...
Nice bright screen and nice size
Very complete and adjustable to taste
... after you have set up and connected everything
Bundles are relatively expensive

User-friendly device with excellent battery life.

- Freek, 26 May, 2022

My previous GPS (Garmin Edge 250 Plus) was only 3 years old but haven't regretted my new purchase for a second. On first startup, the activity profiles were immediately synced (no bother with setting it all the way to your preference and so on). The ClimbPro is also a nice extra, especially if you do longer climbs. Then you know what to expect. Battery life far exceeds expectations. If I do have to give a downside, it's that it's harder to zoom and hover over the map when you want to find something than on touch screen devices. However, I don't need this very often so this doesn't really weigh heavily.

Pros & Cons

designed for high-tech freaks, for average users really a bummer

Reasonably satisfied

- Ron, 29 September, 2021

After years of using the 510 with touchscreen bought this one. It's really kind of weird that for this price you don't get a touchscreen. I find that really a loss! Also saving and saving a ride requires more handling. Are there any positives? Yes the display is clear, messages from your smartphone come through, clear navigation, pairing powermeter and Sram AXS group. For a while I considered returning it but after a few rides I am so reasonably satisfied.

Pros & Cons

After some experience, it works properly.

- Bart, 28 September, 2021

If you want to get started as a new user you have to consult internet or friends first. You must have Garmin connect on pc and phone and Garmin express on your pc otherwise you won't get there. Connect the new device to the pc first, it doesn't say that anywhere but prevents a lot of disappointment.

Pros & Cons

Bright screen
Good battery life
Works fine, including with Strava
The software is poorly explained for a user
The user manual is inadequate

Highly recommended!

- Tom, 7 September, 2021

Bought just before the vacations so I can transfer routes from Komoot directly to my Garmin. This works easily and is a relief from the old model I had (converting to tcx, cable etc.). I am not yet completely happy with the screens that are configured by default, I need to look into that. Satellite is quickly found, route is quickly calculated and uploading your ride via Garmin Connect to Strava is fast. Battery lasts a long time. 3 holders included. I highly recommend it!

Great bike computer with navi

- Bart, 23 June, 2021

Sure, there are some points of improvement... controls with buttons are fine but a combination with touchscreen would have been nice. The menu somehow takes some getting used to. Despite the fact that I already have a Garmin device (and should know the menu structure) it took me a while to find my way around. Don't take it too hard because after using the edge 530 about 4 times, I am getting more and more comfortable with it. Otherwise a very handy device with all the functions I need!

Top device. Greatly improved over the 520. Be careful with map updates though, if you sync it on a Mac you only keep the basemap. Blood irritating, syncing on a Windows PC luckily solves the problem.

Never get lost again!

- Erik, 18 March, 2021

Have had the Garmin in for a few weeks now and cycled about three rides with it. This is the first bike navigation I have had. The Garmin reads very well and is reasonably clear in pointing the way. If you do get off on the wrong track, it will figure it out very quickly. I do find some useful things every ride, or in other words there are a lot of options! (Maybe a little too much?)

Hugely satisfied with what the Edge 530 offers me

- Bart Heinemans, 1 March, 2021

Am a Garmin fan. Garmin has not let me down yet. I have full confidence in this product as well. Navigation has steered me down the wrong path at times. Especially when it comes to crossing a road from bike path left to right of the road. Can be indicated as turning left for example. Other than this point, I am satisfied with the navigation, which I missed on the 520. I like the controls, is just like the 520 only now it seems to be easier.

- Frank, 17 August, 2020

Buttons and menu takes some getting used to, but works fine afterwards. What is more annoying is that the GPS reception is poor.
