The Elitewheels Marvel 38V II road bike wheels for rim brakes are optimised for hilly roads but also perform well on the flat and in the mountains, with aerodynamic advantages on flat stretches and descents. With their high and reliable quality, they offer a great affordable option for road bikes with rim brakes. Although this is an entry-level wheelset from the Elitewheels range, you get specifications you won't easily find in this price range.

The Elitewheels Marvel 38V II carbon wheels have a low weight of 1410 grams, rims with a 29 mm outer width and 50 mm height, and use bearings with ceramic balls for low rolling resistance and high durability. They have been extensively tested and are more aerodynamic than the previous generation. They are aerodynamically optimised for 25 - 28 mm tyres. Also, in this second version of the Marvel wheelset, Elitewheels has managed to reduce the weight a lot. The wheels come with highly reliable Alpina Ultralite Aero spokes, and feel very stable in windy conditions thanks to their U-shaped rims.

Rims
Elitewheels has designed its Marvel wheels to meet the needs of recreational cyclists. Whereas most road bikes have aluminium rims, Marvel wheels are stronger, stiffer, much more aerodynamic and significantly lighter. This is important because wheels are the main contributor to a bike's aerodynamics. As opposed to reducing weight elsewhere, a lighter rim saves rotating weight, which makes for a more agile feel and faster accelerations.

Spokes
When building a wheel, choosing the right spoke type is essential. For this Marvel 60V II wheelset, Elitewheels has selected Alpina Ultralite Aero spokes, which are cold forged to be even stronger than regular spokes and able to handle high tensile strength and a maximum load of 130 kg.

Hubs
The Elitewheels Marvel wheels feature high-flange hubs that achieve higher lateral stiffness and greatly improve stability. Both front and rear wheel hubs use semi-ceramic bearings with an extremely low friction coefficient, saving you precious wattage. The front hub uses 6803 semi-ceramic bearings and the rear hub uses three 6803 bearings and one 6903 bearing. The bigger the bearing, the better the stiffness.

Semi-ceramic bearings
The front hub of the Marvel 38V wheelset uses two 6803 semi-ceramic bearings. The rear hub uses one 6903 and three 6803 semi-ceramic bearings. These large bearings are more durable than standard bearings. By using large semi-ceramic bearings, you get a more efficient bike and save precious wattage.

Brake surface
Japanese Toray T800 carbon fibre is used for the brake surface. The Marvel 38V II wheels use a resin mixture that can handle temperatures up to 270℃, developed by Elitewheels itself. This heat resistance ensures excellent braking performance even on longer and steeper descents. The brake track also features laser-etched grooves to shed water, allowing for safe and consistent braking in wet conditions.

Tubeless
All Elitewheels wheels are tubeless ready and come with pre-installed tubeless rim tape. Each rim features the brand's unique tubeless R-angle design for easy tyre installation. To make fitting tubeless tyres even easier, the rims are designed with special ridges that make inflation with a regular floor pump possible.
