A long long time ago Brooks saddles were produced with small rivets. Pro cyclists would let their saddle get a large copper rivet finish to increase its lifespan. This is because the larger rivets have a better pressure distribution towards the leather. This "upgrade" was used by Brooks years ago. A poorly placed hammer hit can cause irreparable damage to the leather. This makes it of great importance that the Brooks saddles are produced with the utmost care. Each rivet on each Special model is carefully hammered by craftsmen.

A great quality saddle that was comfortable from the off.
I haven't managed to do many miles on my Brooks saddle yet, but it is already comfier than the cheap one it replaced. The leather quality is excellent, and I am looking forward to thousands of comfortable miles in the future. One piece of advice is that the saddle is sensitive to set-up, so spend some time getting it at the right tilt and position...it will be worth it.

A great quality saddle that was comfortable from the off.
