Shimano GRX WH-RX880 Cykelhjul Gravel

Shimano's GRX WH-RX880 wheels have light and low rims that are wide to accommodate today's gravel tyres. As for the hubs, Shimano selected the familiar cup&cone mechanism for the lowest resistance and easiest maintenance. As the wheels come with an HG L2 freehub, only HG 12-speed cassettes can be used.

Carbon rims
Shimano has extensively analysed the relationship between tyre size, rim width, air pressure and lateral stiffness. This research has resulted in an optimal rim width of 25 mm that allows for 32 - 50 mm tyre widths. Thanks to this precision tuning, you will enjoy excellent stability even at low air pressure. Thus, the wheels give you absolute confidence when cornering and high traction on all surfaces. The rims being made of carbon adds to their stiffness and very low weight.

Cup & cone hubs
In these GRX WH-RX880 gravel wheels, Shimano uses the familiar cup&cone mechanism with adjustable bearings. This type of bearing has the lowest resistance and is very easy to maintain. If maintained timely and properly, the bearings will have an extremely long life. The straightpull spokes, unlike J-bend spokes, have no curvature, which is a potential weak point. By eliminating this weak point, the chance of a spoke breaking is reduced. The rear wheel features Shimano's Direct Engagement hub, which is lighter and 30% stiffer. This system uses ratchet rings, which engage faster and are lighter than standard pawl systems due to the aluminium construction. These wheels also offer the option of mounting a Microspline freehub.
