Lockride E-type BES2

This lock is a must have if you have luggage rack battery. Simple to put on and you have to take some effort to get it open, but your battery is secured. After my battery was stolen from a bike shed, I was downright pissed. But after a bit of google work and on Mantel's recommendation, I ended up with this one. Best example of working well? The bike in front of me and behind me were robbed empty, mine was left alone. Quickly delivered by Mantel and the NS bike parking employee even sent it around to colleagues as tip of the day.

The part is a really bad misconstruction. First of all, you get two small, simple steel parts and a small lock for over 90 euros. But okay, the number of pieces won't be very high either. If it was at least perfectly thought out and designed, the price would be okay. Then you want the operating instructions and are pleased that they are only available in Dutch. So first you have to translate it. Once that's done, it's time for the installation. In theory, this is not particularly complicated, but the lock is simply so badly designed that it is not easy to fit. It should be shaped differently and have another recess for a screw that comes through the mudguard from below. I had to bend this screw off without further ado so that it would fit halfway - still badly, mind you, because the shape doesn't correspond to that of the luggage rack. Then you want to screw it tight. The screws supplied are exactly the same length as the original ones and make no sense at all, they should be longer. Once you have attached the lock, you will notice that the lower plate means that the rear light can no longer be screwed on completely. I used threadlocker here and just hope that it holds. Last but not least, during a test ride you realise that the lock rattles like mad because the bare steel parts are not padded. You then have to do it yourself. After a lot of swearing and annoyance, the lock now does what it's supposed to, but I can't understand how a manufacturer can bring something like this onto the market. For 20 euros from Temu you could overlook all the design flaws, but for 90 euros??!

Lockride is easy to fit and looks solid. Could certainly do away with the chance of accidental battery removal.

The Lockride looks and feels reliable. The rate of bike battery stealing has slowed down considerably with a "Polish" key. Loose Lockride parts are for sale, should you lose a part.

Easy to assemble. I solved the rattling by placing cushioning material between the sliding part. It saves a lot of hassle not having to take the battery off the bike every time. Two padlocks and this lockride should make them skip my bike (I hope)!

After my battery was stolen last month, I ordered the Lockride battery lock. It is very convenient that now with a small errand or short visit I don't have to take my battery out of my bike. It works very easily and when I do want to take my battery out, it is not much extra work.

Smart solution to prevent the battery from being stolen from your ebike. Easy to mount, though a bit of fiddling to get the nut right under the luggage rack. A reliable lock ensures peace of mind. If your battery has been stolen once, you don't want it to happen again.

Easy to mount. But rattles enormously when cycling over e.g. cobblestones. I find that very annoying. I would like a solution.

Excelent product overal. Easy to attach (in 5-10 minutes), came with a step-by-step guide. Covers the battery nicely and it addresses the main security "flaws" that original Bosh design has. Main problem is the rattling of the latch which I "fixed" by adding a few layers of electric/scotch tape around the points where latch is making contact with the part that is bolted to the frame.

The instructions clearly explain how to attach it. It does take some tinkering to get it just right in between but afterwards it does provide extra solid protection for your battery
