Silca Secret Chain Blend Chain Wax is the ultimate treatment for your chain to achieve the maximum in performance and durability.

Silca Secret Chain Blend is wax in pure form, a so-called 'hot wax'. To apply it to your chain, you first need to heat the wax to around 75 degrees Celsius. Then you can dip your chain into the liquid wax. The wax consists of a unique recipe of paraffin and tungsten disulphide beads. This special combination ensures optimal lubrication and reduced wear by filling in all the unevenness in the metal of your chain. This reduces friction in your drivetrain, as there is less metal-to-metal contact. As a result, your chain wears down less quickly, and less energy is lost to friction. For good adhesion, your chain should be 100% grease- and dirt-free. For one chain, use a maximum of a few grams of wax. The remaining wax hardens completely and can be reused many times.

Difference between 'Hot-Wax' and 'Drip-Wax'
Wax is a widely used lubricant in the cycling world. The most common variant are the 'drip' waxes. In these, the wax is mixed with a liquid so it is easy to apply to your chain. The liquid evaporates within hours of application, and the wax is then left on your chain. The disadvantage of this is that you can never completely fill the chain cavities with wax, as part of it is the liquid that eventually evaporates. This always creates spots on your chain where dirt can be trapped. This, in turn, causes wear and increased resistance. So the big advantage of the 'hot' wax is that this consists 100% of wax, so you apply a full layer of wax to your chain in one go. By completely filling all openings and cavities of the chain with wax, there is no place where dirt can settle.

Steps for application:
• Put a pot on the fire or use a rice cooker with water to heat Silca Secret Chain Blend.
• When the water boils, put the bag of Silca Secret Chain Blend in the pan.
• Clean the chain in a container with chain degreaser so that the preservative grease is completely removed.
• Completely dry and clean the chain with a cloth and/or compressed air/compressor. Use a steel wire and hook it through the ends of the chain.
• This way, you can then place the chain in the open Silca Secret Chain Blend and move or shake it back and forth.
• Finally, pull the chain out of the wax and hang it to dry overnight with a drip tray underneath.
• After drying, the chain has solidified and you will need to make the chain move again.
• This can be done by breaking the links loose piece by piece with your hands.
