Pros & Cons

  • Creating a good fit is easy with the speed-lacing system and Velcro strap.
  • The upper has mesh panels for breathability.
  • The nylon shank plate is reinforced with glass fibre for increased stiffness.
  • The shoes have a shock absorbing midsole and rubber outsole for comfort both on and off the bike.
  • While the nylon shank plate is reinforced, it is still weaker than a real MTB shoe.

Description

Description

The Shimano MT502 are comfortable and stable trekking shoes for an active outdoor life. This high-quality off-road cycling shoe for men is also a great running or hiking shoe. The fit is easy to adjust and the upper breathes well. Furthermore, the nylon midsole is reinforced with glass fibre.

With the Shimano MT502 trekking shoes you are perfectly prepared for off-road cycling tours through the mountains.

Technology

Quick lacing combined with Velcro
The Shimano MT502 is equipped with a safe quick lacing system. In addition, there is a Velcro closure on the top of the instep. Both are quick and easy to use, allowing you to get an optimal fit quickly.

Lightweight mesh upper
The upper of the Shimano MT502 features lightweight material, creating a sporty look. In addition, mesh panels are placed on the upper of these trekking shoes. This ensures good breathability and reduces the risk of overheated feet.

Strengthened nylon midsole
The nylon midsole of the Shimano MT502 trekking shoe is reinforced with glass fibre. This ensures a higher stiffness of the sole (stiffness index: 4). The power transfer on the bicycle pedals is thus better converted into speed. Furthermore, the shock-absorbing EVA midsole and the rubber outsole provide excellent comfort both on and off the bike.

User tips

Detailed explanation of sizing in mm
In order to help you, as best we can, to choose the right size shoe we have measured all the shoes ourselves. All that's left for you to do is measure your own foot length, and we'll tell you which shoe size per brand suits you best. Does your foot length in mm not appear on the relevant product's page? Then that particular shoe is not available in a size that suits your foot length.

You can easily measure your foot length using an A4 sheet of paper, placed on the floor against a wall. Stand with one foot on the piece of paper, with your heel against the wall. Draw a line above your big toe (or above the index toe if that is longer). Now mark your other foot on the paper in the same way. Measure both - the measurement of your longest foot is your foot length in mm's! Please note: some manufacturers have their own measuring system, and as a result what appears on the shoebox can deviate from what we have measured.

What shoe size you need can differ per brand. This is because certain brands wear larger or smaller. To help you get the perfect fit, we've also classified the shoes as narrow, average, or wide fit. Read all about it in our blog!

5 / 5

Beautiful SPD shoe with simple lacing in usual Shimano quality

- Uwe 11 July 2022

I used to have the MT34 from Shimano, which is getting on in years. The MT502 has a slightly narrower cut and therefore doesn't look so "clunky". The shoe sits firmly on the foot. With the lacing and the velcro fastener, the hold can be well dosed.

Pros & Cons

Adhesive foil to cover the cleat opening
Good walking behaviour
Innovative, easy-to-use lacing system
Ordered size 46 and in 47 - fits!
Screwed cover plate for the cleat opening
Inner sole seems very "thin

Good shoes, price/performance fits

- Markus 14 February 2022

Am very satisfied, ordered shoe size 43 and 43 fits. I used the size chart. The strap is thinner than on my previous MT5 shoe.

great for this price

- Wim 10 February 2022

Now use them without plates on flatpaddles in dry weather they work fine. Plates will come later. Size larger than normal is normal with Shimano, I think.

Pros & Cons

Fine on the bike, even without plates. Still to come.
Not expensive for the quality
sit well
