Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- The Maxxis Ikon MTB tyres are all-round and ride well on varying surfaces in various conditions.
- The tall knobs give great grip in corners but also when braking.
- The Exo Protection shields the sidewalls from sharp rocks.
- Ideal tyre if you don't like swapping tyres. The Ikon does well on any terrain.
- TLE (TubeLess Easy), technology makes the tyres easy to make tubeless with 90ml of latex sealant per tyre.
- The triple MaxxSpeed compound provides plenty of traction, but has slightly higher rolling resistance than a harder compound.
- Tubeless sealant should generally be topped up every 3-6 months.

Maxxis 3C Triple compound mountain technology uses a harder, longer lasting base layer and two progressively softer top layers in order to optimise traction and stability. Maxxis offers three different configurations of our 3C Triple compound mountain technology: Maxx speed, Maxx Terra and Maxx Grip.
Maxx speed
Used primarily in cross country and enduro tyres, the two compounds in the outer layer are specially formulated to reduce rolling resistance and optimise tread wear and traction.
EXO Protection
An extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of select mountain bike tyres. This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tyre remains unaffected. Choose EXO protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high.
Tubeless ready
Tubeless tyres provide the rider with many benefits: the ability to run lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance when compared to a tube-type tyre; and less chance of flattering since there is no tube. Maxxis Tubeless Ready (TR) tyres provide the benefits of a UST tubeless tyre without the weight penalty.

Are a bit on the pricey side but this band is worth it.
Cornering grip is very high also in loose surfaces but also on hard surfaces. Uphill, the tyre maintains its grip.

These are good tyres
Before these I had very old but favourite tyres, unfortunately they came to an end and I had to order new ones, at first I was a bit doubtful because of the high price, but when they arrived and I got on the bike, I was very happy with the new ones. With the purchase, I enjoyed riding it for at least 30 kilometres in one evening.
