Description

Description

Avid Juicy brake pads. You can choose between a hard or a softer version of these pads. We'll explain the differences below.

Hard (Sintered):
With sintered brake pads the compound consists of resin mixed with metal particles. It is also very resistant to high temperatures, especially on long descents. The disadvantage is that these brake pads do not engage as quickly as organic or semi-metallic brake pads and make more noise when braking.
These brake pads are therefore very suitable if you are riding in very muddy conditions and have to brake a lot. This is especially the case on very muddy rides in hilly/mountainous terrain. They are also ideal for use in downhill and enduro.

Soft (Organic):
Organic brake pads consist of soft materials. These brake pads therefore provide excellent controllability and braking power. Due to the soft compound this pad also grips quickly. In addition, the organic compound ensures that these brake pads make little noise while driving.
The disadvantage of organic brake pads is that they do not cope as well with higher temperatures that can occur during long descents. Also, organic brake pads wear faster when you are riding in muddy conditions often.
In short, if you use your bike in the summer and mainly cycle in the Netherlands, then these organic brake pads are the perfect choice. If you use your bike in the winter or go to hilly/mountainous areas, Semi-Metallic brake pads are the best choice.

Not suitable for all brake discs
These brake pads with a hard (metallic) compound are not suitable for all brake discs. These pads can only be used on ground brake discs as they consist of harder material. Pressed, soft brake discs are only suitable for soft, organic brake pads. These will wear out quickly due to harder brake pads.

When assembling both cylinders, open them up properly. It is also best to loosen the cable. Then there will be enough space to fit the new blocks. Do press on the blocks well until you hear a clear click. As a check: try to pull back by hand if this does NOT work then the blocks have been fitted correctly. Do brake in well.
