Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- This chain shifts very well due to a precise grinding.
- Because of the titanium coating, this chain is very durable.
- The weight of this chain is low, because all the superfluous material has been ground away.
- The chain is easy to assemble with the KMC missing link.
- This necklace is made of harder material than chains from other manufacturers. This allows this chain to make more noise during cycling.

This chain is polished with great precision, so you’re assured of having great shifting performance - even on the steepest of climbs! In addition, the links are coated with titanium so it’s very durable. Moreover, as much unnecessary material as possible has been drilled away as well. This has led to the exceptionally low weight of this chain, so you’re not “carrying” too much weight up the hill.
Lastly, the KMC Missing Link is included in delivery, so you easily (dis)assemble the chain for maintenance.
• Pin Length: 5.2 mm
• Weight: 268 g
This chain comes with a missing link, which makes mounting the chain very easy and is also ideal for when you want to give you bike a deep clean. To open and close the missing link you need a pair of missing-link pliers, which you can find here.
Cut to length using a chain breaker
When you buy a chain, it is always too long, which means that it needs to be cut to the correct length. In order to do this, the chain needs to be broken with a chain breaker tool. Our range of chain breakers can be found here. Make sure that you choose a chain breaker for the correct number of speeds of your bike.
Tips for (dis)mounting!
When you fit or remove a chain, it is good to remove the tension from the section where you are breaking the chain. You can do this by using an old spoke and making a little hook at its end, or by using the handy little hook that comes with some chain breaker tools. Insert the hook in the section where you want to work, thus removing the chain tension locally.
Measure chain wear regularly
With a chain checker tool you can easily check your chain wear, so that you can replace the chain in due time. You can find these tools here.

Beautiful necklace
Fine chain, looks good, don't notice much differencek from the old one, only you see the dirt a bit faster.

Nice and good but not worth the extra price compared to "regular" X12 Ti-N
I'm a fan of KMW chains because they last longer than the original shimano ones. Only this model is no better than the "regular" X12 Ti-N, just more expensive. Also, the properties according to KMC on the back of the box are identical to the X12 Ti-N. So save some euros and get that X12, according to KMC both worth 3 stars.

Beautiful necklace both optically and technically
I have an xt 1 x 12 set up with this chain and am very satisfied

Very good appearance and presentation, I have yet to try it.
I have not tested it yet. They say it makes more noise, but has more durability. My bike has all Kashima and I have also bought it for aesthetics, we are some posh. It was time to change the SLX (what a joke) that came as standard, between this and buying an XT, I'm going to try the KMC.
