The Wolf Tooth Elliptical Shimano XTR M9000 oval chainrings are designed to fit Shimano XTR M9000 or XTR M9020 cranksets. Suitable for 9,10 and 11 speed and some 12 speed chains. The narrow-wide tooth profile prevents your chain from falling off the chainring. Thanks to the Wolf Tooth's oval chainring, the dead point in your pedal stroke is eliminated. The point where the force is the smallest, the chainring is immediately lifted over the dead point.
Wolf Tooth's patented design means a slightly (10%) less oval shape with a less aggressive position (112°) than competitors' variants. While an oval chainring hardly affects ride feel, it certainly has big advantages in terms of power transfer. Especially during climbing. An oval chainring's diametre is equivalent to that of one that has 2 more teeth at the point where you can put most toque on your pedals for the best power transfer. An 34 oval chainring is equivalent to about 36 chainring at its highest point. A 34 oval chainring is equivalent to about 32 tooth chainring at its lowest point. You get the benefits of multiple chainrings in one!
