Fizik Aliante R1 Open Sadel

With the Fizik Aliante R1 Open saddle, Fizik managed to create a comfortable saddle for performance-oriented cyclists as well as tour riders. Thanks to the cutout and the carbon rail, it provides enough stiffness and support, but also pressure relief for when you’re cycling longer. The Fizik Aliante R1 Open saddle managed to strike a good balance that will undoubtedly appeal to a lot of people.

According to Fizik, the Fizik Aliante R1 Open saddle is suited for so-called ‘Bull’ riders. This refers to cyclist with the least flexible spine. The pedal stroke is more efficient when they’re sitting upright. On top of that, the sit-bones need more support. For the Bull, Fizik recommends the compact Cyrano Bull handlebar and the wider Aliante saddle. The Fizik Aliante R1 Open is one of the lightest and stiffest saddles in the Aliante line. This is due to the carbon shell with Wing Flex and the Carbon Braided rails.

Saddle shape
This saddle has a rounded-off rear part, making it highly suitable for riders who move around while they ride and whose hips rock from side to side. The round shape provides more freedom of movement for those riders than a flat saddle could.

Flexibility
This is an S-shaped saddle, meaning it’s raised at the back and lowered in the middle. This S-shape makes it possible for people with an inflexible spine to assume a proper riding position. This has to do with how easy these riders find it to rotate their pelvis. People with an inflexible spine often have more trouble rotating their pelvis, meaning they could use some extra support.

Cut-out
This saddle has a cut-out and alleviates pressure for those who often experience discomfort or pressure to their soft tissue areas.

Carbon Braided rails
The carbon braided rails fully consist of carbon fibre and wrapped (in a carbon mat) for more stiffness and to keep the saddle in place.

Wing Flex technology
By making the sides of the saddle slightly flexible, the comfort of this type of saddle is increased. Due to the Wing Flex technology, you’ll have more space for your legs, allowing for easier and better force transfer.
