Deda Expander

The Deda Expander is suitable for carbon front forks with a 1 1/8 carbon fork tube. It allows you to tighten your headset system and take out head play.

Before fitting the expander, it is useful to cut your carbon fork tube to the right length. This is not necessary in all cases. When it is at the right length already and filed smoothly, you can move on to the next step.

You unscrew the hex bolt on top of the expander to remove the top cap. Underneath, you'll find a larger sized hex bolt. You unscrew this just enough to open it without the expander coming apart. Then you slide the bottom part into the fork tube. And tighten it well, preferably with a torque spanner.

Then mount the stem (without initially tightening it) and any spacers. And finally put the top cap on top and adjust the play on the headset with the hex. Don't forget to tighten the stem with a torque spanner!
