The most popular groupset in the world can now be composed to suit your specific needs. All of the technologies previously found in the Dura Ace groupset has been used in the Shimano Ultegra 6800 groupset. The composition is basically up to you. All we do is help you out by preventing you from making incompatible choices. For instance, an 11-25 cassette won't optimally work with a long-cage rear derailleur, while an 11-32 won't work at all with a short-caged one! We have locked out these combinations for that reason. The choice of cranks is entirely up to you however.

The additional 11th gear and numerous improvements result in stunning performance. A lot of innovations of the new Dura Ace groupset have found their way to the Shimano Ultegra 6800 groupset. The shifter has a shorter lever throw for easier shifting and the group features a newly designed front derailleur and rear derailleur with a slightly different cable routing and completely new cable set. Also remarkable is the new four-arm crank. According to Shimano this design optimises the power transfer during your pedal stroke and is more rigid.

The 11-speed cassette is two millimeters wider than the old 10-speed group. The thickness of the sprockets remain the same, the spacers are slightly narrower. The result is that the 11-speed cassette only fits on wheels that have an 11-speed Shimano body. The brakes have been redesigned with a double pivot system, meaning two rotational points rather than just one. According to Shimano these brakes provide an improved control and stopping power.

Excellent groupset for the serious amateur cyclist

The gear shifts are light, positive and quick and the braking is awesome when compared to my old Shimano Tiagra groupset - it really is a big step up in terms of performance. There are also significant weight savings to be made upgrading to the Ultegra groupset. Also great customer service from Mantel with easy online ordering and quick delivery! Would highly recommend.

Detailed product description

The 6800 group shifts and brakes perfectly at all times, and is not too expensive at that. The crankset with 110mm thru axle is easy to convert from compact into double and the other way around. The calipers have a double pivot so you can adjust your braking to the situation. The front derailleur has a longer stroke to ease shifting. The rear derailleur has a short cage and light tension so it immediately reacts to the shifters. The included Shimano brake and derailleur cables are treated with polymers. They have less friction during braking.
