Excellent Tyre THIS is the one to have

- Julian, 26 July, 2019

I got these tyre and waw they are defiantly quicker, better rolling resistance and the grip is out of this world. Just remember they will be tight (TOP TIP) get some Park Tool TL-4.2 Tyre Lever Carded Tool and they just slip on a treat. I bought them for my new campagnolo scirocco and they have transformed my giant bike to an other level. The price of mantel is the best on the internet £69 for 2 tyres and postage.in the uk they are £40-£60 each plus postage. well done mantel i will be buying a lot more off you.

Pros & Cons

And again price

great tyre and great service from Mantel

- Matthew, 25 July, 2019

For me, these tyres are a revelation, so much so I think this is my first ever online review! The rolling resistance is very low compared with anything I've ever had. Too early to say about puncture resistance but for such 'slick' looking tyres after a month of commuting and some longer rides there is no real damage

Pros & Cons

arrived v fast
came folded but no issue
relatively easy to fit
rolling resistance
pricey but so far worth it

- Philip, 12 July, 2019

Always used the gp4000s2 before and had very little issues with them. Decided to buy some new tyres, the gp5000 has just come out and the price at Mantel was not to different from the 4000 tyre. They look nice on the bike grip well and are easy to fit.

Great tyre, massive improvement

- Graeme, 12 July, 2019

I got these tyres to replace vittoria zaffiro pro's and they are a marked improvement. I cant describe the rolling resistance or anything scientific, I just know from Strava that I have increased my speed with the same effort. I would highly recommend these (I have the tube version, not tubeless).

Poor quality won’t buy again

- Franco, 6 July, 2019

I have had the GP 4000’s for years and have sworn by them. The 5000’s have a very very thin sidewall and ruptured on my first ride. The ride itself was good and the grip too was good but the paper thin walls mean they are useless. I have read that this is a common problem.

Great tyre - but hard to fit

- Jude, 17 June, 2019

Overall, the Continental GP5000’s are well made and live up to all the claims Continental has made. My only criticism is the fact the tyre Brad is extremely tight to the rim. I had to take it to a local bike shop to get it sorted.

- Kevin, 12 June, 2019

Bought these as replacement for gp 4000s2s that had worn and started to pick up punctures. Very happy with these new gp5000s, haven't noticed them being quicker but I'm my opinion they are certainly feel more grippy, time will tell on the puncture front but first 150mile passed with no incidents.

Great tyres, very comfortable, responsive and so far, no punctures (28mm)

- Steve, 28 May, 2019

My wife’s been riding 25mm 4000s and they’ve been really great so, when my tyres needed replacing I was keen to try out the 5000s following the years of development and favourable reviews and they’ve lived up to my expectations - I went for 28s for my endurance bike and I have to say they’re awesome and I’d thoroughly recommend, especially now they’re becoming more affordable, great purchase!

Great upgrade from the already superb GP4000’s

- Thomas, 18 May, 2019

I have used the superb Continental GP4000’s for years, and they have never let me down. So when I saw the GP5000’s released, I knew where I was going next! They have not disappointed...500 miles with no punctures, they are fast, grippy and instal confidence even when I got caught out in a good British downpour! They are a tad expensive...but so far worth every penny.

Initial impression very favourable

- Simon, 20 March, 2019

I’ve been a long term very contented user of 4000sii, latterly in the 28mm size. For background I’m an experienced rider, I ride long distance but I’m not a racer. My review is on the non-tubeless 5000 tyres in 32mm size. My riding impressions are based on a comparison between the 28mm 4000sii and 32mm 5000 tyres. Interestingly they both measure just over 31mm on the same relatively wide H Plus Son - The Hydra rim. The newer tyres may yet stretch in use but at present it seems Continental appear to have re-sized their tyres. I don’t have digital scales but on rudimentary scales the 5000’s measured slightly under manufactuer claimed weight. The tyres went on the rims relatively easily, I was able to fit them without the use of tyre levers. I cannot say I’ve noticed the claimed lower rolling resistance as both tyres feel very fast to me but I have no reason to doubt the scientific testing data that I’ve read. I can however report the improved comfort is definitely noticeable and very welcome, (65psi Front, 70psi Rear, 80kg rider). This removes my only real criticism of the older tyres, whilst comfort was good there were definitely more comfortable options available. Traction and cornering grip on the 5000’s is excellent; wet or dry. I’ve only done about 500k on the new tyres, they remain unmarked which is very impressive given they’ve been used through the latter part of a British winter. It’s clearly too soon to rate for wear/puncture resistance but no issues so far.

Pros & Cons

What you'd expect from 4000 Successor

- Alex, 3 January, 2019

Great tyre, all the improvements you'd expect over the 4000sII. I bought a 5000 because I heard they run a bit truer to size (smaller) than the old ones and I had some very minor clearance issues on my old tyre. These do run smaller and the new one fixed my problems.
