Extra durable
Compared to its XT M8000 predecessor, this XT M8100 pedal is even more durable. Shimano achieved this by adding an additional seal in the pedal axle, so the bearings are better protected against water, salt and sand.
Performance support
These pedals have a large contact area. Thanks to this large surface, the transmission of power is greatly improved and you can cycle even faster with the same energy. In addition, the larger surface area makes cycling more comfortable and reduces foot discomfort during long rides.
Good sand and mud removal
This pedal has an open structure. This allows sand and mud to be dispersed, which means you will be able to click in even in muddy conditions.

Reasonably priced, but does not meet expectations.
Already had previous experiences with XT and XTR pedals. Even then, these pedals died quite quickly. I switched to Look X-track pedals and these pleased me quite well. In early July 2025, I needed new pedals and opted for the latest XT pedals, hoping they would now last a bit longer. Alas... After 2 months (I bike about 200 km/week), an annoying ticking developed with every pedal stroke. Dismantled the drivetrain and checked all the bearings. The left pedal has play and this cannot be adjusted out. I'm going back to Look again.
