It does what you’d expect, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
It does what it’s supposed to do, but it’s not pleasant to bike on. There’s not much grip, and it’s not comfortable with normal (non-rigid) shoes. If you want to bike with clipless pedals and normal shoes often enough, you’re better off buying a proper double-sided set of pedals.

A bike that can be used by several people, with or without cycling shoes
It’s easier to ride a bike in normal shoes on SPD pedals. Very handy if you have a road bike rather than a city bike.

Works well and I'm happy with it
I clicked the plates into place and went for a cycle in hilly terrain. Works well! The pedals are easy to turn upwards. (They turn downwards under your weight.) I’m pleased with them. Use a thin tool, such as a Phillips-head screwdriver, to attach and remove the plates.
