Complicated acquisition

- Marieke, 21 July, 2023

It's a fine thing and you can do a lot with it. But it takes some effort to master it. The menu and buttons take a while to figure out. I'm pretty handy with devices, but I didn't drive off with it in one go. It comes with two good mounts to put it on your bike, but no protective case.

Pros & Cons

Easy to use routes from Komoot
Long battery life
Size is fine
Touchscreen is convenient
Complicated to operate
No case

A major upgrade from the 820

- Merlijn, 6 January, 2023

Quite an upgrade from the 820. It is more responsive and smooth. Easy to use. Super many different options. You might get lost in this.

Battery
Reacts quickly
Sensors pair very easily
Perhaps too many options, less clear
Pricey

Fine bright product

- Martin, 25 June, 2022

Very nice product, quite an improvement over my previous Dakota 20. Pairing with fenix 6 took some searching on some forums but worked out. Otherwise you have 2 activities from both devices. Also setting up navigation or using gpx is much easier than before. Still want to buy the rear light with radar extension, that seems to be a safe easy option.

Pros & Cons

Accurate with prompts
Battery life
Clear display
Expandable accessories
Navigation settings on the device itself
Linking Fenix6 sensors more complex

I would buy it again.

- Ronald, 15 April, 2022

All in all a fine device that does what you expect for such a price. Would buy it again. Navigates very accurately, the software could only be clearer if you have 2 turns in quick succession. The 2nd turn is not indicated on the first and you run the risk of missing the 2nd turn because the system has to finish the 1st turn. This is especially if you cycle on data screen. If you cycle on map, there is no such problem. Then you can just see the sequel.

Pros & Cons

Easy to read in bright sunlight
Fast recalculation.
Navigates accurately
Screen easily configurable to suit your needs
Very low battery consumption.
Screen is just big enough, could be bigger

Does well what it needs to do

- Cor, 30 March, 2022

I was completely new to Garmin so I did spend a few hours fiddling to understand the logic of them. In combination with your computer (phone) this is good to do further but before you cycle away so dive in a bit. Once on the road Garmin shows its value well and you can navigate fine and or track your progress well. I have no idea how other navigation systems solve this but if you deviate from the route the solutions are not always convenient but could also be my inexperience.

Pros & Cons

Good battery
Has everything you would expect from a navigation
In combination with other apps everything is possible
Many possibilities so you have to figure it out
Price is quite high
Quite a small screen if you need reading glasses
Recalculating the routes nie Garmin strong

Satisfied, route creation option via Garmin itself severely underpowered.

- Mike, 27 May, 2021

Garmin is a top thing. If you are hesitating between the 530 and to 830 because the 830 can create its own routes I would go with a 530 and a subscription to Komoot. The routes that roll out of the Garmin make no sense....

Pros & Cons

All the info you want.
Navigation clear.
Screen nice and clear.
Create your own route.

Top device

- Hans, 31 March, 2021

Great step in technology to collect due to. the Edge really does keep track of everything. Only when having random routes created, the nice mountain bike trails are skipped and it quickly becomes a gravel ride.

Pros & Cons

clear
fast
manageable
courses option, seeks too little single trail

Versatile, fast and safe "assistant" that gets you from A to B!

- Pierre, 24 September, 2020

The Garmin 830 is versatile, clear, fast and an inspiring assistant on the handlebars. The touch screen, map files and color sharpness and the speed at which the GPS tracks your movement don't take you by surprise. There is plenty of time to pay attention to the road and its -users. The Garmin brings you safely through your route or to the specified destination. A fine step forward compared to the 810 and 820.

Fine bike computer.

- Martijn, 17 August, 2020

Had the Edge 810 before this. This one has a much better battery and navigates just a bit better. Would have expected a little more development after all these years but the good things have remained.

Pros & Cons

Battery
Durable
Garmin
Little innovative.
On the expensive side

fine navigation

- Inge, 27 July, 2020

The Garmin 830 starts up nice and fast and is nice and small, but with a good screen. Saved routes are easy to find and easy to follow on the bike. You have to get used to all the features it has. Unfortunately, the Garmin App is currently down and the statistics are not available. Otherwise, this device received a 9.

Pros & Cons

easy to attach
small, light
You can also hike with it
Garmin app now inaccessible
It takes some getting used to
