Reviews over the
Stages Ultegra R8000 Gen 3

I was disappointed
I had a Tacx Neo home trainer to train with power before I decided to buy my first power meter for the road, and I was disappointed with this Stages L. In fact, it measured 10% less than my Tacx Neo home trainer, which is reputed to be very accurate (comparison of .fit files: https://www.zwiftpower.com/analysis.php?set_id=43823). The Stages application doesn't allow you to correct the measurement by calibrating with a static weight. That said, the measurement was fairly repeatable, so it can still be a good working tool, especially if you don't have another power source to compare it with (and if you don't compare yourself to others). This may have been an isolated case, as many people seem to be happy with this sensor. Thanks to Mantel I was able to return it: "30 days money back guarantee Our exclusive 30-day money-back guarantee applies to this product. This allows you to try the product for 30 days. If you are not satisfied with the purchase, you can return it within 30 days and you will be refunded. Even if the product has been used and tested by you. You are responsible for the cost of the return." After my return I switched to the Favero Assioma DUO sensor, and I have to say I don't regret spending more for this sensor and a power measurement on both sides. In terms of left/right balance I'm very close to 50/50 so the measurement problem with the Stages L was real and it wasn't a one-sided measurement problem.

Very Happy
Excellent product and arrived on schedule. Easy to fit and can’t fault it so far. Only issue is the fact that it highlights how low my power numbers are! :)

excellent powermeter
works perfectly with Garmin even the battery status is indicated at low voltage which results in weird power readings namely

Inexpensive entry into the world of power meters
If you want to know what power you are pedalling but don't want to invest a lot of money, this is the right tool for you. Of course it is only a one-sided measurement, but as a first orientation it is completely fine. And easy to install / operate

Fine, but wait and see
I had the previous version, and this works fine: you don't need a more expensive one. Helps to train focused on wattage, and to get over mountains at wattage well. Problem with the previous version is that it quit when it was drizzling rain on the Hautacam, seen many reviews back online of this problem. In consultation with Mantel I found a good solution with this new version, but the closure has not really changed compared to the previous version. I hope this one is waterproof though.

Perfect product
I have another one in use and am absolutely satisfied. The battery lasts a long time and can be replaced.

I wouldn't want to do without it on my bike.
I chose this product because it is a good alternative to the other wattmeters. Everything is already mounted and works the same. You don't have to glue or adjust anything and it looks good.

Top product, definitely recommendable!
I bought the powermeter immediately before a competition (Ironman 70.3 Zell am See) and rode with it straight away. Beforehand, I compared the measurement with the power meter of my roller trainer (Elite Direto) to see if the readings differed. Fortunately, that was not the case. In the race, the powermeter enabled me to control and maintain my targeted performance quite well, so that for the first time in 10 years I was able to go out on the running track so fresh that a new best time in the half marathon came out of it. You have to get used to the one-sided measurement, but it goes relatively quickly.

Does what it should
Does what it should. It is a crank and transmits performance data. My Sigma Rox12 did not recognise it automatically, but it connected immediately with the specified ID. I have not found any transmission errors. Absolutely stable.

Great product at a fair price!
If you have the right tools, the crank is quickly installed. Calibration and connectivity is also super easy. It integrates nicely on the bike and is almost invisible. The values seem to be quite accurate. However, based on my references, I can only be accurate to about 15 W +/-.

Very good investment for a keen amateur.
I'm very pleased with this power sensor, which gives me immediate information on the power I'm expending. It allows me to regulate my effort for endurance rides. It's easy to follow the programme during training sessions.

Nothing better for the price
It's my first power meter, and although I hesitated between several brands, I opted for the Stages because it is fully compatible with Garmin and with little or no problems. Calibration was easy from the Stages App.

Powermeters... I was a bit sceptical about it at first. After a week on a new trainer, I was converted. I should do that on the bike too! This was after long hesitation already and a lot of reading up. The stages come out of many tests just a bit better, and you can easily add the right side later. It is slightly more expensive than some of the competition but well worth the price difference in my opinion.

Great power metre, well worth the money for the training insight you get
Great bit of kit. Easy to fit and provides reams data that will help you develop and target your training.

Just right
Very nice toy. Easy to assemble, just have some patience and work neatly. Pairing with a bike computer is also very easy. Note that after connection, the meter does not immediately give values (power and cadence) (if you turn it by hand, for example). It only does so when you cycle with it and actually exert force on it. But then it works just fine. Now to do an FTP test

Affordable power info
I wanted to experience for myself what it means to push 300 or 500 watts, and with this powermeter this was finally possible without emptying my wallet. With a bit of dexterity, the installation is done in no time and the connection with the Garmin Edge 1040 is also no big deal.
