Got about 1500km out of a chain with ordinary lubricants before it needed replacing. Now with chain wax already cycled 5000km with the chain and it is still not worn out (measured with a chain checker tool). Also, the drivetrain remains remarkably cleaner.

Wax really doesn't amount to anything at all. I bought a pre-waxed chain especially for longer trips. But already after 70 (dry) kilometres dry links. After 170 km a chain without any lubrication. Bushings rattle in the links! Only advantage is that you don't need to degrease it.
