According to the product specialist

Pros
The built-in Garmin ELEVATE optical heart rate monitor measures your heart rate 24/7 and gives you insight into your health and performance through the Garmin Connect App.
The powerful GPS receiver for GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO satellites ensures that you have good GPS reception even when outdoors and mountainous terrain.
Your personal Garmin Coach draws up training plans for you, based on your current level and goals.
The powerful battery allows you to use the watch for almost a week without recharging.
Cons
An optical heart rate monitor is generally a little less accurate during intensive interval training than a heart rate monitor.
It is not possible to pair ANT+ or Bluetooth sensors, such as a speed or cadence sensors from your bike.
If you have a large wrist circumference, the Forerunner 45S may be too small. In that case, go for the Forerunner 45.
