Points forts & points faibles
Points forts & points faibles
- Get ready to ride with this complete wheelset fitted with a Continental Aero 111 (29 mm) tyre in front and a Continental GP5000 STR (30 mm) tyre at the rear, and with TPU inner tubes!
- With a wide rim profile (22 mm internal and 28 mm external widths) and a 55 mm rim depth, these wheels are designed for wider racing tyres with more grip and comfort.
- The DT Swiss 180 hub has a Ratchet EXP 36 freewheel system and ceramic bearings for low rolling resistance and a quick-engaging freehub.
- The wheels come with DT Swiss Fair Share crash replacement: For up to 10 years after purchase, you can get a replacement part at a reduced price in the event of a crash.
- This is a WTS set – if you buy it, the tyres and inner tubes are included. If you’d rather use a different tyre brand or size, you will be paying for tyres you might not even use.

Wheel Tyre System (WTS)
With a WTS wheelset, DT Swiss matches the rim and tyre as a single unit, rather than you having to find a tyre to fit the rim yourself. The front and rear wheels are deliberately fitted with different tyres. At the front you have the Continental Aero 111 model, specifically developed to maximise aerodynamic gains because the front wheel is most exposed to direct wind gusts. At the rear, DT Swiss opts for the Continental GP5000 STR tyre because the rear wheel is primarily affected by turbulence from the frame and your pedalling motion at the rear – here, grip, comfort and rolling resistance are more important than aerodynamics alone. So, with the ARC 1100 55 WTS straight out of the box, you get the full aerodynamic benefit of the entire system, not just the rims!
AERO+ rim profile
The V-shaped rim profile was developed in collaboration with aerodynamics specialist, Swiss Side, and combines a wider internal width of 22 mm with low steering torque. This means you need to make fewer corrections in crosswinds and the wheelset remains stable despite the impressive rim height.
Ratchet EXP hub with SINC ceramic bearings
The DT Swiss 180 hub uses the Ratchet EXP freehub system – DT Swiss’s lightest freehub – with SINC ceramic bearings for low rolling resistance. You will notice this particularly when riding in a low position and with a freewheel that continues to click smoothly.
- Compatible with:
- Disc brake frames and forks with Center Lock mounting
- 12 mm thru-axle: 100 mm at the front and 142 mm at the rear
- Shimano HG cassettes from 8-speed to 12-speed fit directly onto the fitted Shimano freehub (for 12-speed racing groupsets such as 105 R7100, Ultegra R8100 and Dura-Ace R9200, Shimano uses the same HG freehub as for 11-speed; for 8- to 10-speed, you will need the correct spacer)
- SRAM 11-speed road groupsets with an HG-compatible cassette (e.g. Force22 / Rival22) also fit directly onto the fitted Shimano freehub
- SRAM 12-speed road groupsets (Force AXS, Rival AXS, Red AXS, XPLR), with the supplied SRAM XDR Road freehub body kit
- Maximum system weight of 110 kg (bike + rider + luggage)
- Not compatible with:
- Rim brakes – this is a disc brake wheelset only
- Campagnolo cassettes – no compatible freehub body is supplied
Not sure? Here’s how to check: Measure the axle width of your bike frame and fork (100/142 mm) and check whether your disc brake rotors are Center Lock. If you are riding SRAM 12-speed, prepare to convert to the supplied XDR freehub before setting off.
- Front wheel fitted with a Continental Aero 111 (29-622) tyre and Continental TPU inner tube
- Rear wheel fitted with Continental GP5000 STR (30-622) tyre and Continental TPU inner tube, and fitted with Shimano freehub body
- SRAM XDR Road freehub body kit (separate, for conversion)
- 2 wheel bags
- Tubeless rim tape (25 mm) and tubeless valves (aluminium, black, 49–65 mm) on both wheels
- Valve caps and valve guards
- Not included / still required or useful:
- Bike tools for the installation of the cassette and disc brake rotors
If you are unsure, and live in the Netherlands, you can have our experienced bike mechanics install the set for you: Book an appointment in our Mantel workshop planner.
- Check your tyre pressure before every ride to reduce rolling resistance and prevent punctures if you hit a pothole or kerb hard.
- After your first few rides, check that the cassette and disc brake rotors are still securely fastened.
- During transport, store the wheels in the included wheel bags to protect the rims against scratches.
Yes, in most cases it is. The fitted Shimano freehub body is compatible with 8- to 12-speed HG cassettes (including Shimano 105 R7100, Ultegra R8100 and Dura-Ace R9200) and older SRAM 11-speed road groupsets such as Force22 and Rival22. If you are riding a SRAM 12-speed groupset (Force AXS, Rival AXS, Red AXS, XPLR), you will need to use the supplied SRAM XDR Road freehub body kit for conversion. Please refer to Compatibility above for a full overview.
Is the DT Swiss ARC 1100 Black Edition 55 WTS compatible with a road bike with rim brakes?
No, this WTS version of the ARC 1100 55 is exclusively a disc-brake wheelset with a Center Lock interface. For a rim-brake frame, you will need a different wheelset.
Does the stated weight of the DT Swiss ARC 1100 Black Edition 55 WTS include the tyres?
No, the specification states the weight without tyres. The weights including tyres are: 1002 g (front wheel) and 1118 g (rear wheel).
If I have a crash while riding the DT Swiss ARC 1100 Black Edition 55 WTS, will I be excluded from the warranty?
Yes, but DT Swiss offers the Fair Share crash replacement scheme on this carbon wheelset, which allows you, following a crash, to obtain replacement parts at a reduced price for up to 10 years after purchase. Please ensure you keep your original receipt for this purpose.
Can I fit different tyres to the DT Swiss ARC 1100 Black Edition 55 WTS myself?
Yes, the rims are tubeless-ready (hooked/crotchet) and compatible with a wider range of tyres than the standard 29 and 30 mm tyres fitted. However, the WTS combination has been tested to deliver the best aerodynamic performance, so you will be sacrificing some of those gains.
