The Zipp 404 Firecrest Carbon Clincher wheel set is well known as being one of the highest quality carbon wheel sets on the market. The 77/177 hubs have a good seal and durability. These wheels are best used on flat asphalt roads and when driving in windy conditions You have a noticeable aerodynamic advantage and the crosswind sensitivity feels predictable.
This exclusive technique resulted in better modulation and increased stopping power. After 2 years of prototyping, extensive testing, the addition of new materials, and the adaptation of existing production processes, Showstopper braking surface can be applied. Showstopper is a coupling of an embedded texture with silicon carbide particles in the resin surface. It increases the surface roughness of the brake track, providing the rider with more consistent and responsive braking.
ABLC SawTooth
The ABLC SawTooth design consists of a marked dimple profile of Zipp. It ensures that airflow is conducted along the surface of the rim for optimum aerodynamics. Also, the stability is improved which provides more comfort.

Installing a cassette on a wheel is easy if you have the right tools. If you purchase a cassette remover with a Shimano fit, you will be able to mount either a Shimano or Sram cassette on your rear wheel. Please note! For a Campagnolo cassette you need the Campagnolo tool. If you have a Shimano 9/10-speed cassette, first slide the spacer over the body. Then you place the cassette on the body. This can only be done in one way because of the fit of the body. Finally you turn the washer straight on by hand and tighten it with the cassette tool. Cassettes aren’t easily overtightened, but if you want you can use a torque wrench for this.
• For Shimano 9/10-speed, do not forget to mount the spacer first before installing the cassette.
• Make sure the rim tape is stuck well in the rim.

Fast wheels. Fast delivery
Excellent service. Immediate improvement in my speeds once I fitted these wheels, and braking is very good - at least in the dry (no intention of going out in the wet, I have other wheels for that). Also they look great. Very pleased.

Excellent all round wheel set- roll fast!
I had looked around at many of the mid depth aero wheels and with the filtered down tech from the NSW range (brake track) I was impressed with the spec. Upon arrival, the wheels were easy to fit and instantly felt an increase in speed on the flat and particularly downhill. I was concerned moving from shallow climbing rims that there may be a negative impact on climbing, but as these carry the speed in to the climbs you continue with momentum. Of course they won’t be as quick up the steeper climbs but I don’t feel the need to swap the wheels as they make up more time on the flat and downhills. The braking is very good, although not rode in the wet as yet. Overall, a great wheelset which extremely impressed with. The service from Mantel was spot on too!
