With the introduction of 1x11, SRAM demonstrated the advantages of a drive with a single chainring and a wide range cassette. This system provides almost the same gear range as a double or triple chainring, without the problems of a front derailleur. Using a 1X11 eliminates the chance of chainsuck or malfunctions in your front derailleur. In addition, the removal of excess material results in a pleasant weight loss.

The X1 group has the same technology as the XX1 and X01 group. However, in order to reduce costs, they decided to omit the carbon. The kit is only available with a trigger shifter. But its biggest difference is the cassette. In the X1 group this consists of 8 gears that are riveted to one another. Only the smallest three sprockets are machined from one piece of steel, which results in an attractive purchase price.
