The Speedplay SYZR, for many years they were teasing us with sneak previeuws on various expo's. However, it never came into production until now. Now they are also on the market for consumers.
What makes the SYZR unique compared to other pedals is the ability to adjust the freedom of movement from 0 up to 10 degrees. You can also set the angle of your cleat, without unscruwing the bolts. A new development are the two ceramic rollers that can found on the cleats. With normal pedals the metal of the cleat rubs agains the metal of the pedal but with these pedals Speedplay uses two roller-cams to ensure the basis pedal feel in all cicumstances.
The two points at the front of the cleats ensure the shoe is led towards the clipin mechanism. Although this system looks complicated and not really mud proof, SpeedPlay proves the contrary. The pedals have been tested under every condition, and perhaps the hardest part were the cyclocross races. In all cases, they passed with flying colors.
