Description

The Shimano Dura Ace R9270 C60 Road bike wheels for disc brakes are suitable for tubeless and folding tyres. Shimano has worked tremendously on maximum aerodynamics, stiffness and power transmission. The Shimano Dura Ace R9270 C50 wheels have an internal rim width of 21mm and external rim width of 28mm. This makes the Shimano Dura Ace C60 wheelset very suitable for 28mm tyres or wider. This has resulted in a considerably lower air resistance. The Shimano Dura Ace R9270 C60 wheels are made for sprinters, have a higher rim, a stiffer spoke pattern and thicker spokes than the C50 wheels. And a direct-engagement hub should ensure quick engagement torque when powering up.

Riding characteristics
The Shimano Dura Ace C60 wheels feel incredibly comfortable in your bike. While other high-carbon wheels need a bit of getting used to in terms of stability in the wind and downhill, the Shimano Dura Ace wheels feel right at home. You hardly notice that you are riding with such deep wheels. They feel direct at every turn and despite being 60 mm deep, you can use them perfectly on climbs. Descents at high speed don't feel nervous at all and they steer very directly into corners.

Aerodynamics
The aerodynamics of the Shimano Dura Ace R9270 C60 have been considerably reduced. This is partly due to the wide rim profile with an external rim width of 28mm. The aerodynamic drag is considerably lower with a rim of these dimensions. Compared to Shimano Dura Ace R9100 C40 wheels, an impressive 5.1 watts of aerodynamic drag is gained with a lower rim. In addition, another 1 watt is gained compared to the Shimano Dura Ace R9100 C60 tubular wheel. These gains were achieved while maintaining other properties such as stiffness, comfort and control.

Stiffness
To achieve higher stiffness, the 2:1 spoke pattern has been added to the front wheel. Also, stronger spokes of 1.8mm thickness have been used to optimise stiffness without compromising on weight. Stiffer riding characteristics are enhanced by increasing the immediate pedalling feel when accelerating. For this purpose the Direct Engagement system has been developed and added to the rear hub. And power transfer efficiency has been increased by 63%.

Weight
Every gram counts when it comes to rotational mass. Even though the rims have become significantly wider, the Shimano team has created rims that are lighter than their predecessors. A set of Shimano Dura Ace R9270 C60 wheels is 161 grams lighter than the previous Shimano R9170 C40 wheels.
