Description
Description
The Scope R3 road bike wheels are the right choice if you are looking for a wheel set for the hills or high mountains. Thanks to the low 30 mm rim crosswinds will not bother you, and the extremely low weight of only 1359 grams makes climbing almost effortless! While braking with a carbon brake rim is often quite exciting, the R3 wheels give you a lot of confidence. The specially developed Scope brake rims combined with the Scope brake pads ensure good braking performance, even in the rain. The braking surface can withstand temperatures of up to 280 degrees Celsius. Being able to withstand high maximum temperatures is a must, especially on long descents. In addition, the Scope R3 Wheels are also very safe.
The Scope R3 wheelset features durable SKF bearings with good sealing and low rolling resistance. The wheels are built on low, aerodynamic 30 mm rims with a 28 mm external rim width. The Diamond Ratchet body system is a newly developed engagement system which ensures that the delivered power is transferred to the wheel even faster. The pre-installed tubeless rim tape and tubeless valves allow the R3 wheels to be tubeless. The wide rim in combination with a wider tubeless tyre provides greater comfort, lower rolling resistance and increased puncture resistance. Scope is so confident of the quality of their products that they've given a three-year warranty on all their wheels. In the event of a crash, you can benefit from the Scope crash replacement programme.
3-year warranty
Quality is number one with Scope. After registering your wheelset on the Scope website within three days of purchase, you can activate your three-year warranty period. When you're registering your wheelset, you must fill in the serial number. You can find this number on the registration card that comes with the wheelset, on the wheel box or on the flange of the rear hub.
The rim profile of Scope wheels was developed using Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics (AEA) technology. This algorithm calculates the most aerodynamic rim profile to ensure optimal performance. For the previous generation of Scope wheels, countless hours were spent drawing hundreds of different rim profiles, which were then analysed using CFD in an attempt to find the optimal and most aerodynamic rim profile. This method of trial and error approaches the optimal rather than defining it. Together with Delft University of Technology (NL), an algorithm has been developed that defines the coordinates for the most aerodynamic rim profile. This unique innovation in aerodynamics is called Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics.
Hub system
The Scope hub system has been redeveloped. Proven features such as the wide flange spacing (for high lateral stiffness), custom-made oversized 6803/6903 SKF bearings and the tool-free adapter system have remained, and have been refined where possible. In addition to the SKF bearings, the CeramicSpeed bearings remain available as an upgrade for the Race series.
Diamond Ratchet Body System
The Diamond Ratchet body system is a newly developed engagement system that transfers power to the wheel even faster. The standard 36T ratchet ring can be exchanged for a 48T ring for even quicker engagement. It is compatible with all the following groupsets: Shimano, Shimano Micro Spline, Sram XDR, Campagnolo and Campagnolo N3W.
Tubeless system
The geometry of the unique Scope Tubeless System ensures easy fitting, instant inflation, long-lasting pressure and compatibility with all (tubeless) tyres.
Local Reinforcement
With the Local Reinforcement carbon technology, the number of carbon layers around the spoke holes on the inside of the rim have been increased. This significantly reduces weight while maintaining strength and stiffness.
• Scope quick release skewers
• Scope carbon brake pads
• Tubeless rim tape ( pre-installed )
• Tubeless valves (pre-installed)
• 9/10 Speed cassette spacer
• Warranty registration card
• (possibly a torque wrench)
Installing a cassette on a wheel is easy if you have the right tools. If you purchase a cassette remover with a Shimano fit, you will be able to mount either a Shimano or Sram cassette on your rear wheel. Please note! For a Campagnolo cassette you need the Campagnolo tool. If you have a Shimano 9/10-speed cassette, first slide the spacer over the body. Then you place the cassette on the body. This can only be done in one way because of the fit of the body. Finally you turn the washer straight on by hand and tighten it with the cassette tool. Cassettes aren’t easily overtightened, but if you want you can use a torque wrench for this.
• For Shimano 9/10-speed, do not forget to mount the spacer first before installing the cassette.
• Make sure the rim tape is stuck well in the rim.
• You'll have to purchase a body for an 11-12 speed Sram XDR seperately.
