- Reflective side strip (Black+Reflex), for extra visibility in the dark.
- K-Guard is Schwalbe’s entry-level puncture protection. If you cycle many kilometres every day or in an environment with a lot of sharp debris, the Road Cruiser Plus offers greater protection.

Green Compound
The tread of this tyre is made from rubber consisting exclusively of renewable and recycled raw materials. This is better for the environment, without compromising on grip or service life.
K-Guard puncture protection
Beneath the tread is a layer of natural rubber reinforced with Kevlar fibres. This traps sharp stones and glass before they pierce your tyre, reducing the likelihood of a puncture.
Fits:
Does not fit:
Not sure? Here’s how to check:
- 28-inch city bikes and e-bikes with a rim size of 622 (ETRTO 37-622, 42-622 or 47-622, depending on your chosen tyre width)
- 26-inch city bikes with a rim size of 559 (ETRTO 47-559)
- Rims compatible with clincher tyres with an inner tube (this tyre is not a tubeless tyre)
Does not fit:
- Hookless rims: this tyre is designed for standard hooked rims
- 27 or 27.5-inch wheels: this tyre is not available in those sizes
- Tubeless fitting without an inner tube: this is not possible with this version
Not sure? Here’s how to check:
- Check the sidewall of your current tyre: it will show both the inch size (e.g. 28x1.60) and the ETRTO size (e.g. 42-622)
- The ETRTO size is the most reliable, as inch sizes such as ‘28 inch’ or ‘700c’ can correspond to several different rim sizes
- Are you unsure between two sizes (for example, 37-622 and 40-622)? Please contact our customer service team or pop into a Superstore; we’ll be happy to measure it for you
Included as standard:
Not included, but required or useful:
- 1x Schwalbe Motion Road Cruiser tyre, in your chosen size
Not included, but required or useful:
- Inner tube in the matching size: see our city bike inner tubes
- Tyre levers to remove your old tyre: see our tyre levers
- A second tyre, if you’re replacing both the front and rear tyres at the same time: you can order this tyre individually
How to fit your new outer tyre
You can fit this tyre yourself in about 15 minutes using a set of tyre levers and a pump.
- Deflate the old tyre: press the valve until all the air has escaped.
- Pry the old tyre off: insert a tyre lever between the tyre and the rim and work the tyre off all the way round.
- Position the new tyre: start at the valve and work the tyre onto the rim with your hands, using no tools if possible to avoid damaging the inner tube.
- Fit the inner tube: inflate it slightly so that it retains its shape, place it inside the tyre and pull the remaining sections of the outer tyre over it.
- Inflate the tyre: to the recommended tyre pressure for your size (see the table under ‘Tips for Use’), and check that the tyre sits evenly on the rim all round.
Are you unsure, or would you rather not do it yourself? Our Mantel workshop will be happy to fit your tyre for you.
The correct tyre pressure depends on your tyre size:
- 26x1.75 (47-559): 3 to 5 bar (45–70 PSI), max. 100 kg
- 28x1.25 (32-622): 4.5 to 6.5 bar (65–95 PSI), max. 80 kg
- 28x1.40 (37-622): 4 to 6 bar (55–85 PSI), max. 90 kg
- 28x1.60 (42-622): 3.5 to 6 bar (50–85 PSI), max. 100 kg
- 28x1.75 (47-622): 3 to 5 bar (45–70 PSI), max. 110 kg
- Check your tyre pressure regularly using a pump with an accurate pressure gauge: too low increases the risk of a puncture, too high compromises comfort
- Are you carrying luggage or a child on the back? Stay below the maximum weight limit for your bike size
Which size Schwalbe Motion Road Cruiser do I need?
The Schwalbe Motion Road Cruiser is available in 26x1.75 (ETRTO 47-559) and in 28-inch sizes with four widths: 28x1.25 (32-622), 28x1.40 (37-622), 28x1.60 (42-622) and 28x1.75 (47-622). Check the ETRTO code on your current tyre: that’s the most reliable way to choose the right size.
Is the Schwalbe Motion Road Cruiser tubeless?
No, this tyre is a clincher tyre with an inner tube; it is not a tubeless tyre. You will therefore need a suitable inner tube, which you can find in our city bike inner tubes.
What is the difference between the Motion Road Cruiser and the Motion Road Cruiser Plus?
Both tyres share the same Green Compound and the same tread pattern, but the Motion Road Cruiser Plus has a thicker PunctureGuard layer to prevent punctures than the K-Guard protection on the standard Motion Road Cruiser. If you cycle many kilometres every day or want extra peace of mind, choose the Plus version.
What tyre pressure should I use for the Schwalbe Motion Road Cruiser?
That depends on your size: the 28x1.75 (47-622) runs at 3 to 5 bar, whilst the narrower 28x1.25 (32-622) requires 4.5 to 6.5 bar. Check the table on this page or the sidewall of the tyre itself to find your exact size.
