ActiveRide Technology
With an enlarged positive pressure chamber, this Reverb dropper post is extra firm when at its highest point and feels like a normal seatpost. When the saddle is lowered slightly to enhance control and balance on rough sections, the dropper post acts as a suspension seatpost.
AXS Technology
Battery run time for this dropper post is around 40 hours; it uses the same batteries as the SRAM AXS drivetrains, and so they can be changed during a ride. If the battery is dead, it only takes an hour to recharge.
With many different drop sizes, which is your ideal one? Start by choosing a dropper with the right diameter. Then you will need to choose between different travel (or drop) lengths. A longer drop makes for more control but also adds more weight - your frame must to be able to handle this. A simpler design than the previous generation
My previous Reverb AXS (Generation A) had already been sent back twice in the space of a few years due to the infamous ‘squishiness’ issue. By the third time, I’d had enough and bought this one as a replacement. The Reverb AXS B2 (identical to the B1, except the battery charger is USB-C) is much simpler in design, so the oil-air mixing problem has been eliminated. Maintenance should also be much simpler. The downside, however, is that the dropper is less stiff than its predecessor. At maximum stroke, the dropper post flexes by 2–3 mm (not noticeable), and at shorter strokes, the dropper post flexes in a way that’s both noticeable and audible. SRAM calls this “ActiveRide”, but for me it adds little. The dropper post comes without a controller, but I was able to use the old one as normal. Hopefully, this design is genuinely better and will last a bit longer than the previous generation.
