Garmin Edge Explore 2

Solid product with many features.
Very nice, solid and good product. We have already cycled many beautiful routes with it. It has a 'back to start' button, so you always get back to your starting destination if necessary. Many setting options, something for everyone. Messages and phone calls can be linked, so you see when you are called in an emergency, for example.

GPS for navigation that I would not advise if you do urban cycling.
Even this version 2 of Explore is far from the usability and user experience standards we are used to on mobile. The suggested paths depending on the type of route/distance/time/ascent can be aberrant if you just want to go from where you are to another address (worse the further away). You are not allowed to see the whole route beforehand to evaluate the route (you have to zoom in and out). It does not offer you different options, you have to recalculate it by changing the conditions without the result necessarily changing the route. Once on route there are many options to customize the presentation of data and a lot of data, however, the screen in changing conditions of sunny and dark areas does not look good, and the position arrow, small, even with the high contrast map, does not make things easier.

fine device with good value for money
The explore 2 has been in use for a week now and has made several trips with it. the navigation works well, but it takes some getting used to the directions that are given. what works less well is the "heavy traffic" indication that only appears every time you drive on the road in question. What works fine is the ease with which routes can be created and loaded, super fast. The link with the Garmin heart rate monitor is also super fast. What I have to get used to is the interface of the software, where all the settings can be found. Not really intuitive, but not really a problem, just lots of practice. One question that remains is whether or not you can connect a powermeter to the device. The device itself indicates the possibility, but according to the descriptions on this site it can't, while the manual says it can. I immediately ordered an extended Mount, which is highly recommended. It is super strong and in a good clear place.

Great replacement for my Garmin 1000.
Bought this as a successor/replacement to my Garmin 1000. Since the Garmin 1040 is too expensive and the edge explorer 2 displays enough data for me so the choice fell on the explorer2 and so far not a bad buy.

mooi duidelijk scherm
kom van garmin etrex serie, maar toch moest ik me door de menustructuur worstelen om de juiste voor mij duidelijke settings te komen

Top device!
Very easy to use with clear display which I can read without my reading glasses. Easy to use. I hesitated a long time between the Explorer and Hammerhead Karoo2. No regrets at all.
