The Oakley Radar EV Prizm cycling glasses are the successor to the legendary Oakley Radar, but with many upgrades. After decades of research and testing with world’s best athletes, it turned out that the lens frame was partly in cyclists’ field of view. Oakley got down to work on this and designed a larger lens that provides a better and larger field of view. Another new addition are new ‘surge ports’ to retain a cooling stream of air. The lightweight yet incredibly sturdy frame is created with Oakley’s own O-Matter material. Combined with the HDO and Plutonite lens material, this results in better protection for your eyes. In short: say goodbye to your old Radar, because the new Radar EV Prizm is so much better! This Radar EV builds on the legend created by the old Radar. “The king is dead, long live the king.”

De bril die elke sporter een klare kijk geeft!

Ik gebruik de bril voor lopen en fietsen. Perfecte afscherming van de zon, je voelt niet dat je een bril draagt, onmiddellijk een klare kijk op alles en iedereen

The Radar EV’s creation process included a thorough look at how its users see through the lens. This research resulted in the field of view now being a whopping 10% larger compared to other its older sibling, the Oakley Radar. The Oakley Radar EV Prizm is deliverable with different types of lenses.

Technologies

Fit & Protection

A good fit means better results and protection. The combination of the flexible, durable O-matter material with the Plutonite lenses guarantee maximum protection in all conditions!

HDO

HDO stands for High Definition Optics, which in turn refers to the curvature of the lens itself. This curvature matches the natural curve of your eyes, ensuring you’ve always got a crystal clear and distortion-free view.

Field of View

Special optimised lens for cycling. The largest challenge was creating a lens that has a certain shape and size without the frame obstructing your view. This appeared a tough one, because during cycling you often have your head down, while you are looking up. But with this lens Oakley offers a field of view that is as large as necessary without any blind spots.

O-Matter

Impact resistant frame material that can handle the most extreme of conditions. This material is super light but incredibly durable. Controlled flexibility increases the impact resistance and also helps improve everyday comfort.

Plutonite lens material

One of the most optically pure materials used in modern glasses. The material ensures a clear view of what’s ahead and is capable of withstanding almost any impact. The lens filters out 100% of all UVA, UVB, UVC, and harmful blue light frequencies up to 400 nm. There’s no separate coating on the lens. Rather, the lens itself is what offers protection from UV rays.

Impact Protection

After decades of innovation, Oakley Performance glasses offer an incredible level of no-compromise protection against high speed impacts and heavy impacts. The protection comes from the use of high-grade materials and the unique Oakley lens/frame design combination.

Three-Point Fit

A patented innovation which ensures the frame only touches the nose and sides of your head. This system ensures the lens is optimally aligned and the glasses feel comfortable, without causing the pressure points found with glasses fitted with hooked legs.

Ventilation

Thanks to the special “surge” ports, the air is channelled over the lenses to prevent them from fogging up. This way these glasses better meet the wishes of their users.

Prizm lens

The Special Prizm lenses provide an unprecedented regulated light transmission, resulting in an improved colour contrast and improved visibility of objects. The Oakley Prizm lens has a substantial reduction of glare and adjusted light transmittance thanks to the Iridium lens coating.

Prizm Sapphire

The Radar EV Prizm Sapphire lens is suited for extremely bright light due to its light transmittance of only 12%. The Prizm Sapphire lens looks neutral on the inside and has a shiny red look on the outside. The Prizm technology filters colours you don’t want to see and turns dull colours into warmer colours, which leads to better colour contrast. Red, green and brown become deeper and clearer compared to other colours, that are repelled more. Oakley’s Prizm Polarized filter eliminates reflections without distorting your field of view. This allows you to better discern details of road markings or other road users for example. Another benefit of this improved colour is that it is more relaxing for your eyes throughout the day. The Jawbreaker Prizm Sapphire lens is ideal for cyclists who need neutral vision during rides in bright environments, but also enjoy having a sporty lens colour.
