Ere Research Explorator II GCR40 Gravel Bike Wheels

Frame and geometry
Although the Explorator II GCR40 is a wheelset, the geometry of your bike is essential for optimal performance. Designed for a wide range of gravel and road bike frames, the wheels offer steady and predictable handling. The combination of a 40 mm rim height and a 21 mm inner rim width ensures well balanced handling, with acceleration as well as cornering feeling smooth and controlled. These wheels enhance cycling comfort, especially on longer gravel rides or varying surfaces.

Groupset and brakes
As the Explorator II GCR40 wheelset is compatible with Shimano, SRAM XDR and Campagnolo/Ekar freehub bodies, it is an easy fit for various drivetrain setups. The wheels are designed for disc brakes, ensuring reliable stopping power in dry as well as wet or muddy conditions. Thanks to the strong Sapim Leader spokes and straight pull IONA hubs, the wheels are highly responsive and can handle high forces, making them suitable for steep climbs as well as fast descents on gravel and asphalt surfaces.

With or without inner tubes
As the rims of the Explorator II GCR40 wheelset are tubeless-ready and can accommodate tyres up to 40c, it is easy to opt for a tubeless setup with low tyre pressure and more grip on loose gravel. For an optimal setup, we recommend Ere Tubeless tyres with ProClose sealant, but clincher tyres also work perfectly with Tubus inner tubes. The wheels are robust enough to handle intensive daily use both on asphalt and rough terrain.
