The Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt 3 GPS Bike Computer is designed for every type of ride, from races to relaxing tours. With turn-by-turn navigation, a crystal-clear colour display, 20 hours of battery life and user-friendly operation, it offers everything we have come to expect from Wahoo. With these characteristics, you can be sure to get the most out of your training or recreational ride.
Colour display and user interface
The Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt 3 is very different from its predecessor. The new version has a high-contrast 16 million colour display, allowing you to easily read your data in all light and weather conditions. Furthermore, the screen is made of scratch-resistant and durable Gorilla Glass. Thanks to the revamped interface, you can easily scroll through all your data.
Smart Navigation
Like the Wahoo Elemnt Roam, the Bolt 3 also features Smart Navigation. If you deviate from your planned route, it can automatically create detours with Turn-by-Turn navigation or navigate you back to the starting point of your route. In addition, it is now possible to navigate to a point on the map directly from the bike computer. Of course, for even more extensive navigation options you have the Wahoo Companion App, which allows you to navigate to a specific address, for example. Physically, the new Bolt is slightly bigger and you will notice that the three buttons under the screen are a bit convex and stick out, which makes them easier to operate. In the renewed map, you can activate and deactivate different layers, so you can view street names and segments via your bike computer, if you want.
Intuitive and user-friendly
Thanks to its revamped user interface and enhanced colour display, the Bolt 3 is even more user-friendly than its predecessor. For example, heart rate or power zones are displayed in distinctly different colours that match those in the Companion App. Thus, you can see at a glance in which zone you are training. The colour display is also an advantage for navigation. For example, waterways are blue and forests are green, making it a lot easier to get your bearings during your ride. Thanks to the Ambient Light Sensor, the display automatically adjusts to the ambient light. In the ELEMNT Bolt 3, the Quick View LEDs have been replaced by a handy dashboard at the top of the screen, which gives you extra information during your bike ride, and through the Companion App you can select what to use it for. While navigating, it can indicate when a turn is coming up, and if connected with a heart rate or power meter it can show your training zones.
Changes
In addition to the enhanced colour display and revamped navigation options, the ELEMNT Bolt 3 includes a number of changes. For example, the screen is now 2.3 inches instead of 2.2 inches. Battery life has been increased to 20 hours. And the Bolt 3 is a bit heavier than its predecessor: 84 versus 68 grams.

Wahoo Companion App
Wahoo has duly considered how to work the settings of the device. By pairing the Bolt 3 with your phone, you can customise all data fields through your phone. You can also use the app to turn alerts and sounds on or off. In addition, the Bolt can be connected to various third-party applications via the Wahoo Companion App.
Turn-by-Turn navigation
Select a location on the map and the Bolt 3 will easily navigate to a new location using Turn-by-Turn navigation. The computer will give you clear warnings when you need to turn. If you deviate from your planned route, the new Bolt can easily get you back on track. If you want to shorten your chosen route, you can also easily navigate to one of your pre-set locations.
Turbo trainer
The Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt 3 can be paired with Wahoo and Tacx turbo trainers if they have ANT+ FE-C. You can use four different programmes to control the trainer. With Route Simulation, it is possible to re-ride a previous route via GPX on the device. The turbo trainer automatically customises the resistance based on GPS coordinates.
Aerodynamic design
The Bolt 3 has been designed in collaboration with great minds who know all about aerodynamics in cycling. It gives you the same power and simplicity as the original Elemnt but with a proven aerodynamic design. It is the fastest bike computer and outfront mount on the market. Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) testing has shown that on a 40 km time trial at 34 km/h, the Bolt 3 is 12.6 seconds faster.
WhatsApp notifications
In addition to SMS and phone messages, the ELEMNT Bolt 3 also provides notifications from other apps. For example, during your bike ride you can get a pop-up upon receiving an email or WhatsApp text. Although this can be very convenient, sometimes you may prefer some peace and quiet as you cycle; you can then easily turn this off by activating the Do Not Disturb mode.
Live Tracking
Share your real-time location using the Live Tracking option. When you activate this, you can also see other Wahoo users on your bike navigation map. And you can easily share your location with friends or family through the Companion App.

Works well, though there is room for improvement
- Bert 26 September 2025
Tov version 1 faster GPS. Better wifi and bluetooth. It navigates back to the route if you drive the wrong way. Strava linking is not yet automatic upload, you have to set that up separately. In full sunlight, the map is difficult to read. Different app to v1
Pros & Cons
Does what it needs to do
Hard to read in full sunlight
Strava upload you have to set up 2x (works though)
