Description
Description
The Shimano K04S Metal models are hard, sintered, brake pads that are suitable for Shimano road bike disc brakes. In the case of sintered brake pads, the compound consists of resin that is mixed with metal particles. These brake pads are also very resistant to the high temperatures that can occur, especially during long descents. The disadvantage is that these brake pads do not engage as fast as organic or semi-metallic brake pads and make more noise during braking.
These brake pads are therefore very suitable if you cycle in very muddy conditions and have to brake a lot. These brake pads are also very suitable if you are going to cycle in the high mountains with both the road bike and the mountain bike. During long descents, these metalic brake pads do not fade and they maintain their braking power. When fading, there is an oil-like layer on the brake pad. This often happens when you cycle with organic brake pads. Metallic brake pads don't have this problem, which makes them the most suitable brake pad for long rides in the mountains!
Note:
Manufacturers use different sizes & fits. Make sure if the shape of the brake pad in the image corresponds with your current brake pad. Not sure what shape you have, scroll down to the bottom of this page. There, you’ll find which brake pad is suited for which type of brake.
