Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR

My favourite road tyre. Very easy to fit as a tubeless tyre, low rolling resistance and good durability. The 28mm tyre measures 31mm on a rim with an internal width of 24mm.

I’ve been using them for a few years now, and I rarely get a puncture. Less than once every 5,000 km.

I’ve switched from 32mm Schwalbe One tyres to these 30mm ones. I’ve also switched from latex inner tubes to tubeless. The tyre fits snugly around the rim. I’m wondering whether I should fit an inner tube whilst out and about, in case the latex sealant isn’t enough.

I’m really pleased with the Continental GP 5000 S TR: they ride smoothly, feel fast and inspire a lot of confidence. You really notice the difference between the standard GP 5000 and this tyre when the road surface gets a bit rougher; this tyre is much more comfortable and less twitchy at higher speeds. Fitting the tyre onto the rim can take a bit of effort, but it’s well worth it.

I’ve fitted these tyres to my Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 – what a difference. The bike has really come into its own now, just as it was meant to; I’m really happy with this purchase.

I’ve got this tyre set since the beginning of the season, and so far super happy with it. Done many KMs on them and I was impressed by how much speed I gained since I switched to them, using same bike and wheels.

I have complete confidence in this tyre; it has never put me in danger or caught me out. It is simply exceptional.

At first, I ordered the wrong size (32mm) all on my own – they wouldn’t fit my rims. After some good advice and quick help from Mantel, I sent them back and fitted the correct width (35mm). They were airtight straight away and very easy to fit onto the rim (hookless).

These tyres inspire a lot of confidence, especially on dry roads, but they are also reliable in wet conditions. With previous performance brands, I used to get punctures much more often that wouldn’t seal themselves with sealant.

Just a top tyre. It rolls quickly and has good grip. The previous set of Conti GP 5000 lasted 5700km.

Great tyres! Comfortable to ride on, but as with many tubeless tyres, they are a little difficult to mount. You have to make sure to get the whole tyre edge down the middle of the tyre and it works!

These tyres are easy to put around the rim. Using a foot pump (Joe Blow), they 'pop' in one go. Then insert the latex and you're done. Your bike is tubeless in 15 minutes! The tyres roll lightly and have plenty of traction. I can't say anything about puncture resistance after three rides.

Am on third set of tyres. Very satisfied. Can definitely do 6000km with them. Had 1 puncture. The latex Dynamic Barkeeper sealed the hole 2mm. Did 1000km more on them after that.

Started on Schwalbe Pro One's and after 2000km (summer) first puncture (tubeless setup). (Winter) New Pro One on, this one punctured after only 100km. Bad luck. Next I tried the Conti GP 5000, first impression is that it has a better finish than the Schwalbe (better symmetry, a nicer finish.) Rolling is also fine. This will be my default fast tyre. However, this one was also flat again within 50km, really bad luck. It was striking that the pebbles I found in the puncture were so small that I asked myself whether a competitive tyre is for me, as I don't have a follow car. From other experiences I gather that winter is also a killer for competitive tyres. That's why I have now chosen the Pirelli Cinturato Velo (tubeless), with the peace of mind that I will lose a little on rolling resistance, but this is hardly noticeable. Very happy with my choice, going for a long ride feels much nicer now.

In two years only two punctures, doing ~5000km per year. They are perfect in every context and with excellent durability. I see no better alternatives in the same price range.

Great tyres and look

Speed and grip you feel on the road, tubeless sphere you with slightly lower pressure comfortably and still fast or over most bumps.

With these tyres, I feel an increase of 1kmph compared to the factory tyres that were on the bike. Also, handling is better and the ride is softer on my arms. Even through 5km of sharp gravel I didn't ride flat. Fitting is difficult but doable with 2 people and sopping water

I am completely satisfied with the product, this is the first time I have used it in size 30, you can't feel the difference in weight compared to the 28 I usually use but it is certainly very comfortable.

I am satisfied. The only weak point is that it wears out relatively quickly. After 4000 km, it was over for me. But I think that's ok, I didn't give the tyre anything. 25 mm, tubeless

With a few little tricks (a little soapy water and carefully using a jack for the last 40 cm), it can be mounted on the Zipp 404 TSS without any problems and without a compressor. It shouldn't be too easy either. With Stan's Tire Sealant also very well sealed. Driving with 4.4 bar rear and 4.1 bar front at 83kg like on rails. Rolling resistance is good! No punctures after 500km, although I didn't miss any stumps, stones or potholes on autumn cycle paths.

Super tyres. Mega grip! I've been riding this tyre model for a while now and don't know anything better. Especially in combination with tubeless tyres. This makes the tyre even faster, as it has less rolling resistance.

Fantastic tyres that I pair with Stans Race sealant for a puncture-free ride (double the recommended amount of sealant, top up monthly). These are the grippiest, most comfortable tyres out there for me.

The GP5000 S TR were originally on my new bike. I got excellent wear out of them and always had good grip on wet or dry surfaces. They lasted over 5000km with no punctures so I can't fault the quality of the product. The pricing from Mantel is very good so my purchase was top value for money.
