Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- CNC-machined aluminium provides a very strong construction that does not deform while being used.
- Weighing only 25 grams, the kit is very light and compact.
- With a plugged up hole, the tyre will hold its air but we recommend replacing a plugged tyre when you get home.

Compact and reliable tool, also compatible with road bikes
It was nowhere entirely clear whether this tool was also compatible with road bikes, but I tested it "so you don't have to". I had a leak in my Schwalbe Pro One TLE that kept opening after inflating to 4-5 bar. Quickly closed each time, but I don't want to ride at 3 bar structurally, so I had to plug or ride with an inner tube. It feels very weird to deliberately put something in your tyre, but after a few YouTube videos I took a chance. The 'prick side' is sharp and sturdy, with a kind of file along the shank to rough up the puncture. The insertion side easily grabs one of the 'bacon strips' (several formate included, total 8 strips). Since you screw the unused side shut, the whole thing is sturdy and manages to easily pierce the strip. Inserting the strip was very simple, and the material of the strips is also super: a bit rough and sticky, so the sealant in the tyre works well with it. Just be careful when taking the tool out that you either twist well so the strip or plug stays put, or hold it back a bit with your finger. The leak was immediately closed and I was able to pump the tyre straight back up to 5 bar without it reopening. I cut off most of the protruding part of the strip. Then left the tyre overnight and lost 0.1 bar, in the morning cycled a lap on it straight away. the remnant of the plug/strip has become a soft pimple that you don't feel while riding, and the tyre is still pressurised. Very satisfied!
