Not for wide tyres.
My bike has somewhat wider tyres. Doesn't work with that, unfortunately.

One can put the outer tyre on with ease without exerting much force

Alu rim maybe, carbon rim no success
As always lightning-fast delivery, top. Was messing around with a very tight folding tyre. Ordered this thing but doesn't work well with the rim flange of a carbon rim, at the moment suprème when you put the most force the end you put on the rim flange slides off. How it works with an alu rim I have yet to try.
