Hand-dyed in Italy

With the garment dye process, it is not the raw fabric that is dyed, but the finished, sewn jersey. This means that the colour permeates the entire jersey as a single unit, including the seams and trims. As it is a manual process that varies slightly from batch to batch, each jersey is slightly different in shade and texture. Sportful has this done in Italy, which positions the jersey as an artisanal product in a category that is normally highly standardised.

Mid-weight thermal fabric

The fabric is designed for temperatures between 5°C and 15°C, and is heavier than fabrics used for summer jerseys but makes the jersey lighter than a winter jacket with a fleece lining. The premium stretch quality gives the fabric sufficient elasticity to be comfortable in a deep cycling position, without any tight seams at the shoulders or upper thighs. Breathability is inherent in the construction, without the need for a membrane or coating.

Measure your chest circumference at the widest point and your waist circumference at the narrowest point. Select your size in the order box based on these measurements. The regular fit is looser than a race fit; if you want the jersey to be close-fitting, choose the smaller size.

How to keep your Dyed Thermal W cycling jersey in good condition

1. Wash on a cold cycle and inside out: This is important because garment-dyed colours are more prone to fading at high washing temperatures.
2. Wash dark colours separately: Garment-dyed colours may run slightly during the first wash. Wash the jersey separately or with similar colours the first time.
3. Use a mild detergent: Do not use bio-detergent or fabric softener. Fabric softener impairs the fabric’s stretch properties.
4. Do not bleach or dry-clean: Both will damage the dyed fabric and its stretch properties.
5. Line dry: Do not tumble dry. Heat affects the elastane and the colour fastness of the garment dye.

• Hang the jersey up to air immediately after your ride, or wash it straight away. Sweat that remains trapped in the fibres will, over time, impair the fabric’s breathability.
• Pop a windbreaker into the middle back pocket for descents or any temperature drops during your ride. In conditions between 5°C and 15°C, there is a big difference between climbing and descending.
