Turbo Trainers Selection Guide

Which type of turbo trainer do you prefer?

The Direct Drive turbo trainer is the most popular and most frequently chosen bike trainer. You'll transfer your power directly onto the turbo trainer, so you can train with significant resistances or steep incline percentages. You'll have to install a cassette onto the turbo trainer, to which you'll attach your bike, using a quick release skewer or thru axle. The Smart Bike has the widest resistance range. It's the most stable and has the best power transfer, but can take a little while to adjust correctly. When using a Wheel-on bike trainer, you click your rear axle into the trainer and place your rear wheel onto a roller. This is a simple way of biking that doesn't result in a lot of resistance, because all resistance is derived from your tyre's grip on the roller. That's why we recommend using a trainer tyre with a Wheel-on trainer. A Bike Roller is simply a way to get warmed up or to perform recovery training sessions.
