without app little fun
I do not have and do not want a smartphone, so then you miss already a lot of options, almost everything goes through the app. Even functions like "ride to a starting point" (from a loaded gpx lap) you can forget. Putting a gpx on the ELEMNT is also really only possible through the smartphone, unless you connect the device to the PC and put gpx files in the routes folder (something that is nowhere to read/find). The routes I have driven are not yet a success, for the most part the device does not know the long routes. Sometimes a small stretch only to then choose strange detours. Recalculating is a feature that doesn't work either, maybe my routes are too long? The maps are not very detailed and do not indicate street names or landmarks. For me, the ELEMNT ROAM is a glorified ANWB turn signal, nothing more. I don't use the training programs. However, the device is solid, has good readability and size.

After a year, the screen is damaged.
In use fine, but the screen is almost unreadable.

too expensive for what it is
I bought it mainly for the navigation functions and I expected a lot from it considering the price and marketing. The packaging is very nice but there is very little in it; no rubber fitting for the handlebar clamp, no fitting socket wrench, no safety lanyard. Garmin really does that better with the Edge 530. Setup with the iphone app is very easy but the app is needed a lot to adjust settings. I find the navigation with the chevrons on the map very unclear. A colored line would be better. When cycling wrong you don't get an alternative back to your route very quickly. In order to navigate halfway back home, maps have to be installed first. I also noticed that the speed stubbornly kept jumping back to miles/hour while I had clearly set km/h. It is a color screen but colors are used very sparingly. I have not looked at the training functions.

Zeer fijne computer
Zeer fijne fietscomputer. Eerste keer is het nog uitzoeken hoe het werkt en de navigatie is vrij simpel, maar doet wat het moet doen

Very good gps, lots of options and easy route downloading
Good bike gps, easy downloading routes, setting gps the data route during training is still searching, the instruction for the next turn during route could be better, the battery lasts much longer than garmin.when linking strava, the data sometimes do not match what the bike gps indicates(average.30 gps strava 29.8)

Reliable and user-friendly navigation.
What a relief after my old Garmin Edge. This one can navigate without getting stuck several times during each route. Via bluetooth and WIFI easy to connect to the phone so you can use Komoot and Strava to plan a nice route. Mbv the element app, the various pages can be arranged as desired. The Wahoo has pre-programmed interval training to make the commute more varied. To take full advantage of this, you do need various sensors, such as a heart rate monitor and power meter, which can be paired via ANT+. I have no sensors paired and thus only use the basic functionality of the Wahoo. That is (more than) sufficient for me. With some functions, such as modifying an already started route, I am still searching for the fastest way to do this. I have not yet tried the summit segments in the flat province of Brabant, but they seem like a nice addition. The GPS is reasonably accurate, at complex intersections the "chevrons" sometimes need some time to show you the right turn. If you have missed a turn, this is clearly pointed out so you can quickly correct it. Battery life is fine for a full day of cycling. The screen is easy to read but looks a bit plain because of the limited amount of color used. The push buttons work intuitively, the absence of a touchscreen is not a miss. Lots of functionality for a great price, the price advantage over the element V2 is great.

Nice and well-functioning product with a fine screen.
After owning several Garmins, I made the switch. Many options via app. Works well, nice screen. Always clear. 3 handy control buttons for switching between screens on the move. Less connection under trees or in woods.

Very fine bike computer
Very nice bike computer, train by heart rate with this and can follow my schedule this way. However, the product has more advantages if you buy a power meter.

Very nice!
I notice a slight stall in the forest! Too bad I had the same problem with the bolt! Very good autonomy, which is great even with the LEDs and GPS map mode. Great design! Good quality screen and good visibility.

Fantastic device, but with one major drawback.
I have had the Roam for a year now and I am 90% satisfied with it. It has one drawback: the back on track function does not work abroad. I haven't researched all over Europe, of course, but at least the feature doesn't work around Hamburg and the surrounding area and not in the area around Jávea and Denia in Spain (Costa Blanca). So I have a strong suspicion that it only works in the Netherlands. Also the function to plan a route back to start along the way does not work in those areas. So if you deviate from the route and cannot find it back, you have to use other navigation systems to get home again. So when abroad, take a map with you or google maps etc.

Worth the money, nice to use. Don't hesitate, do it.
I have about 600 km on it now, so time for a review. My experience is generally very positive, I have no experience with Garmin so I can only judge one-sidedly. I create routes via komoot and get them from all kinds of websites, such as anwb and I export them to the roam, you can also sync with all kinds of apps such as komoot and strava etc. it just depends what you prefer. This works well. With a paid account of strava you can also load it, but there is plenty of free stuff to find on the interweb. Ease of operation is top, you paired once your roam with your phone via bluetooth and next time your bluetooth on your mobile is on and your roam is on, they find each other within 5 sec. Have not experienced any connection loss yet. Settings are through the app on your phone. You can have a lot of information displayed but it doesn't overwhelm. In the beginning it takes some playing around with what info you want during the ride. Altitude meter, current time, time on the road, how long to go, how many km left, current speed and average speed. It can all be done. Navigating: Works very nicely. You select the route on your app and then click on sync, the roam notifies you a few seconds later that it receives your command and loads the route. When you start and you are not yet at the starting point it asks if you want route assistance to this point. I usually choose no, if you then select start route the first few meters are simply added to the total. If you deviate from the route it gives a blue route that you can follow to get back on route, the black route is the normal route. Cycling back is not necessary. I often zoom out a bit to see which roads to follow, especially in forest areas this is advisable. Through the many trees you can sometimes lose your GPS signal, MTB'ers have this quite often (also with Garmin I read in the reviews). Signal comes back automatically. Also nice to get to places where you normally don't go because you don't know the route. You can also enter a location on the roam and then cycle there. There are also some lesser points: Sometimes it randomly loses the GPS signal, which can be annoying if you don't know which way to go for a while. Especially in wooded areas, although I have also experienced it in rural areas. When zooming out far, the route is not always displayed correctly. Moreover, the map is not very clear when zooming out (far), which makes it difficult to create an overview. Although you hardly ever use it, usually you zoom in further. Nothing else to complain about.

The perfect cycling and navigation computer.
Over a year and more than 5,000 km in use and very satisfied. Pairing with almost any sensor is possible. I myself use Assioma power pedals and an NC-17 cadence/speed sensor on the swingarm with spoke magnet. NC-17 works more reliably than sensors from Wahoo for on the wheel axle and crank. Operation of ROAM is logical and with real buttons. I like it much better than having to aim at a touch screen while riding. Screen is easy to read in full sunlight and letters are large enough (readable without my +1.0 reading glasses). Setting up the many options is easy via your mobile phone (I use iPhone myself) and so is updating firmware and maps. Synchronizing training and routes is fully automatic. I myself mainly use (paid version of) Komoot and Strava. Navigating a route is fine, sometimes you have to zoom in and follow the directions. Make sure you have up-to-date maps. Integration with Wahoo Kickr (indoor direct drive bike trainer) is excellent, so you can relive your routes if you can't or don't want to bike outside. Screen size is a compromise between compact size, amount of info on screen and readability. I find the same a successful compromise and can recommend the ROAM to anyone.

Ideal bike GPS for both track and MTB rides.
several weeks in use now , before that I used the wahoo elemnt bolt . This Roam has better gps qualities so it does not lose its signal in the woods , battery lasts long , despite a color screen and more options than the Bolt , pleasantly surprised . Very satisfied customer , also thanks to the good service of Mantel , top!

Nothing but satisfaction.
After a full year of use, still very satisfied with this navigation/cycling computer. You can adjust all settings and fields particularly easily with the accompanying app to your liking and very easily load GPX routes. I am particularly impressed with the excellent service provided by Wahoo. When the computer was badly damaged in a crash and I inquired whether it could be repaired, I was offered a new one by Wahoo without even asking. Many thanks for that Wahoo.

A fine comprehensive bike navigation. Via komoot you can easily find routes, which you can transfer to your bike computer via the elemnt app! So that you always cycle different routes.

Value for money
So far very satisfied with the Wahoo elemnt roam. Nice compact model, but still easy to read. Easy to set up with the Elemnt app on your mobile. The 2 included mounts can be mounted on different bikes, like mine on road bike and MTB. Quick alternative route when leaving the read route. On the device itself no possibility to create routes, but navigate to a point. Reading routes (gpx) is very easy via Bluetooth and mobile.

The better option than Garmin
Drive without sensors, but still the LEDs are useful. ~100 meters before turns they flash which way to go. Screen is always clear to read, battery lasts sun 15 hours with navigation. Syncing with kahoot is easy, can directly start planned route on device without opening wahoo app.

Who needs a Garmin, when you can have a Wahoo!
I am a true Wahooligan. Fan of the compact devices and all the data you can get out of them. Navigating is perfect. At first the re-routing of the routes did not work properly, it turns out that you always have to update the maps first (inquired at Wahoo Service, responded quickly). You should know this, and besides: you then have to remove maps first (North America, Australia, not really necessary) before you can update, otherwise you don't have enough space. Top device! Highly recommended!

Should have purchased it a long time ago!
Best purchase in recent years. Clear readable screen even in bright sunshine. Directions very easy to follow. You have to be a real moron to drive wrong with this GPS. And if you go wrong, it gives a clear signal so you can recover immediately. Self-synchronizes all routes with Strava.

Very nice cycling computer!
Only a week in use, so still some discovering to do in all functions, because there are quite a few! User-friendliness is fine (Garmin could learn a thing or two from it), especially through the cooperation with the app on phone (iPhone in my case). Pairing with sensors is easy and automatic the next time. Heart rate monitor, power pedals and speed sensor: all no problem. Ant+ and BLE sensors can be used interchangeably. Updating firmware and maps via wifi goes smoothly, as does uploading ride info to Strava and Cycle Analitics, among others. Screen readability is good, despite not being very large. Color screen is a stretch for Wahoo: it is used very (too) sparingly. But in itself, the black and white info is very readable, even in the dark due to backlighting. Battery life seems fine. Push buttons on both sides take some getting used to, as hardly any pressure point can be felt. In short: an excellent product and well worth its money.

Serious alternative to a Garmin Edge1030
I use the Wahoo Elemnt Roam in addition to a Garmin Edge1030. For serious training planning/help the Garmin is better and it has a larger touch display with higher resolution. Other than this, this Wahoo is at least on par and for many people even better. Personally, I find the navigation better/clearer, pairing with your phone is of a different order and the lack of software hassles I find a relief.

Great buy
I have been using the wahoo ELEMNT roam for about 2 months now and am very satisfied with it. In the beginning I had some trouble downloading routes- installing the app the wahoo supports did go super fast. Now downloading routes as a gps file is done in no time. The screen of the elemnt is easy to read and also adjustable ( 100 m to 5 km route visible). I find the colors a bit disappointing, but the system with yellow main roads, gray shading of bike paths and the arrows for the route to ride and black line for driven route is clear. I am satisfied with this purchase and find the device more user friendly than my previous navigation ( different brand , about the same price range)

Deliciously long enjoyment
Ideal that you can use the app to set up the Elemnt. Routes uploaded or created from history no problem. Pairing with my Kickr is automatic. On a muddy ride noticed how convenient it is to wipe your screen clean without being in the controls (my previous one had touchscreen). Screen size is large enough to see the route well without the device getting in the way.

highly recommended!
I rode with Garmin for years and never wanted to try anything else, but due to the ever decreasing quality, due to the navi software that is driving me crazier and crazier, and especially due to Garmin's service that has become downright abysmal, I decided to try something else anyway. I have now ridden the Wahoo a few times, and all I can say is that I should have made the switch much earlier....

Ideal for beginning cyclist without knowledge of cycling routes
Am novice cyclist and still know few routes, thanks element i.c.m. bike app makes it easy to get a start. Turn by turn sounds ideal but I have noticed that I try to get back on the route quickly, quickly makes more kilometers if I don't. Other than that, the ELEMNT is very user friendly and clear to read.

Super handy gps!
Gps purchased for a 2 year bike trip. Definitely not a must, but so convenient in terms of battery life. The deciding factor in choosing Wahoo were the many reviews that highlighted the ease of use and I can agree, very easy!!! I myself am extremely bad with smartphone, technology etc but this is really child's play. We mainly use komoot and loading the routes to the Wahoo is very quick and easy. The display on the screen is fine, although the color screen is not an extra in my eyes. However, the effective navigation if you deviate from the route is very handy. The GPS has to search a bit, but it works fine. The buttons are very handy and the touchscreen is certainly not a loss, but I would never recommend it. For me it was a lot of money in terms of purchase, but already worth double and I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. To give one more picture in vglance with Garmin 520, which I borrowed briefly from a friend, the Garmin gives a lot more details and possibilities, but the Wahoo is so much easier to use and probably for 9/10 users more than enough anyway if you're just recreational cycling.

Perfect order and reliable product.
I received this particular model quickly after searching numerous sites. It's easy to fit the speedo and from the very first pedal strokes you can feel how useful it is, with its profile, speed and secure location.... I didn't know about the Mantel site and I must admit I'm pleased.

Great! I'd recommend it.
First use of a GPS (after a conventional computer). It's accurate, reliable and very useful when you don't know your route. It works great in conjunction with Strava. I also bought the sensors to complete the experience: perfect!

Unbeatable value for money
Excellent product. Lots of useful functions when you're pedalling, for pace, climbs and navigation. With regard to the latter, the indications are precise (at least on roads, I haven't tried mountain bike trails) and with the LEDs indicating bends, navigation is very easy. Used in combination with the komoot, it's a very good experience. Highly recommended
