To remove the first of the two bearings in the bottom bracket, the plate at the top of the tool must be loosened. This plate must be placed on the inside of the bearing and then the "handle" of the tool can be reassembled. This requires a bit of dexterity, but it is not rocket science. Otherwise, a simple and solid tool that does its job superbly.
