excellent brakes
I've only tried shimano's XT M8100 brakes apart from these. My reason for the upgrade was because of modulation (or lack thereof) with the shimano brakes. For me, this is particularly evident on the rear brake while doing manuals / wheelies, and trail braking on the front. Installation was relatively easy - internal cable routing is not Magura's fault. Once the brakes were bedded in, the modulation increase was clearly evident. Overall power is not massively more than shimano xt, but that was not lacking in the first place.

Feel great as new - bite adjustment a bit of gimmick
The brakes feel great, I followed the magura video on shortening the hose and lost no fluid at all. Its important to not over-tighen any of the bolts, especially on the lever. I really like the feel of these brakes, and prefer their feedback compared to my previous Guide R. Also very light which is a plus if you care about that. A bit dissapointed with the bite point adjustment, I can barely feel the difference. It may become more apparent once the pads are more worn. Something to note: There is a tiny metal bit holding the lever for openning up all the way until it meets the hose. This bit can brake very easily (its meant to apparently) and then the lever will move away from the bars when pushed. This is not a malfunction, and not something covered by warranty. Just a weird thing to be aware of.
