Basil Transport

I bought the Basil crate long. I use this crate to carry parcels and groceries from town. The basket can be mounted both lengthwise and widthwise. I recommend mounting the large in the width. Installing it was a bit of a hassle. The adapter plate is not included, so you have to buy it separately. When installing it, there are 4 screws and 4 plastic caps to attach the crate to the adapter plate. The manual states that these should be tightened with max 2.5nm. This is, of course, very little. What I noticed is that the screws provided in combination with the black caps and the crate were too short to screw down the crate properly. What happens is that the black screws don't turn far enough into the adapter plate, causing it to pull the plastic of the adapter plate apart. I ended up omitting these black caps and replacing them with 4 body washers. This allows the screw to get in deeper and lock in tighter. However, you should be careful not to put too much weight on the left or right side, as your crate may sag too far because it only rests on the adapter plate and not on the luggage rack. In the photos you can see that I have panniers with mik system and mounted the mik double-decker on top of it, on which I can still slide the crate.

The basket is high quality and big enough to hold a lot of junk. The pink colour is superb (a very pretty old pink). It looks very solid at first glance

Once attached to my front luggage rack with black rilsans, it won't budge! Good capacity for groceries or a backpack.

Please note that the position of the holes for the MIK anchors does not allow for the saddle to bump into the body. I secured the saddle with rilsan clamps to give me the necessary clearance.

Here I can fit both my handbag and my gym bag. If I need to stop outside the grocery store on the way home, it works to carry the grocery bag in the box!

Have switched to Basil after many rusted through wire baskets. Even though it is plastic, the durability here beats the supposed environmental factor. The wire baskets are also coated and if I, as in the past every 3 months this exchange, this is also not great for the environment. Furthermore, they offer with the size L enough space for the school bags of the children (and there is still some air for a small sports bag)

After a few uses, for carrying wet gear, it's perfect. If you're starting with a standard bike with a single luggage rack, you'll need to buy TWO MIK adapters for it to work, for those who wonder when ordering.

The basket arrived and what can I say, it's a chic, sporty and elegant piece. It offers a lot of space, even my laptop bag fits in completely lying down. I definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to carry more.

Feels really nice and sturdy. The small size is perfect for my rear rack, without being bulky or heavy like some metal baskets. It comfortably fits about 2 medium bags of groceries and is great for running errands. Bought with the MIK adapter and luggage rack plate to make it easily removable; installation was quick and easy and it feels secure.

What can I say, it is a cheap plastic crate that is way overpriced. In which no proper thought has been given to the mounting points/grid. A waste of the purchase.

A nice size crate and high enough. It's not mega big, but fine! It easily fits a bag or groceries. It is about the same size as the handlebars, this makes it not overly conspicuous on your bike. No rain stays in it. Very satisfied with this crate.

Nice basket. I have it in seagreen. I put it on the bike with tiewraps, but you will see that some pieces are not very strong, so do not tighten the tiewraps too much and preferably on the thicker pieces. Otherwise, just buy a separate mounting system.

The basket meets my expectations in terms of colour, shape and quality, and assembly is simple.

This super nice crate from Basil is perfect for on my new transport bike. I have size S and this is just right to carry my work rucksack without being mega oversized on my new work horse. Lovely to no longer have a sweaty back from the backpack in the hot summer months. Am very happy with it.

You might think it's just a simple plastic box - but this one is wonderfully compact, beautifully stable and has lots of practical holes for fastening. I wouldn't want to do without it
