The new Dura Ace 9000 serie pedals are inspired on its highly successful predecessor, the 7900 series, Shimano's flagship pedal. This lightweight pedal uses a carbon body. This body is connected to the Nickel-CrMo pedal axle. In the middle of the pedal they mounted a special steel plate to prevent carbon damage from cleat wear. The Dura Ace pedal uses an additional needle bearing, in addition to the standard cup-cone bearings. This makes this pedal run smoother.
