Rapha Toe Cover Overshoes

The Rapha Toe Covers are designed for rides in changeable and damp weather. The 2 mm neoprene covers your forefoot and keeps out wind chill and road spray, precisely in the area that gets cold first in cold and wet weather. The back of the shoe remains open to maintain ventilation on higher-intensity rides.

The design is minimalist: no zip, no fastening at the top, just a piece of neoprene that slips over the forefoot of your cycling shoe. This makes this accessory light and compact enough to carry in a back pocket for added protection in case the temperature drops or it starts to rain. The hard-wearing panel at the bottom protects the sole from wear when getting on your bike.

Will you choose the Rapha Toe Covers or the Rapha Winter Overshoes? The toe covers are the best choice for temperatures between 5°C and 15°C and changeable weather, when you want to retain ventilation at the back. The Winter Overshoes offer more protection with 3 mm neoprene and a fleece lining for the coldest and wettest winter rides where your whole shoes need to be protected.

2 mm Neoprene

Like in a wetsuit, the neoprene used in these toe covers completely blocks out the wind and, in wet weather, allows a thin layer of moisture to pass through, which is warmed by your body heat. The neoprene used for the toe covers is 2 mm thick (compared to the 3 mm thickness of the Winter Overshoes), making the product lighter and more compact but also slightly less warm. The toe covers are suitable for changeable weather and temperatures above 5°C; in lower temperatures, the thicker version will be better.

Abrasion-resistant bottom panel

The bottom panel is made from an abrasion-resistant material that withstands the friction caused by stepping onto the bike. Toe covers wear out first on the underside near the toe, the area that makes contact with the ground when you get on and off your bike. The reinforced panel extends the product’s lifespan.

How to keep your Rapha Toe Covers in good condition:

1. Rinse with clean water after every wet ride: Road salt will eventually damage the neoprene.
2. Leave to dry flat at room temperature: Do not put the toe covers next to a radiator or in the tumble dryer. Heat damages neoprene.
3. Hand wash if necessary: Use cold water and a mild detergent. Do not put them in the washing machine.
4. Do not bleach or dry-clean.

• Put the toe covers into a back pocket for added protection in changeable weather. They are so light and compact, you can carry them with you at all times without even noticing.
• Put them on before getting on your bike; trying to put them on with your bike between your legs, or with your shoes clipped into your pedals, will not work very well.
• Check the bottom panels regularly for wear.
